Cheapest most basic GPU

Hi guys, I have a basic family desktop that is playing up because of a dying 8600GS (I know right)
Anyway I have a 1yr old mobo, new RAM etc, so I'm just putting the cheapest graphics card possible that will be 'worth having'.

My question is, on the OCUK website the cheapest one is 8400GS which will be monumentally worse than my 8600. However I'm not playing games on that system or anything I just want it to use as an everyday PC. So is it worth shelling out an extra £10 on the 810MHz GT 610? Or get the HIS 5450.

I'd use on board graphics if I had them but the cheap new board I bought doesn't have it. Is it just swings and roundabouts with a cheap GPU? Or is there something about any of those 3 that I should know. Specs are Intel C2D 2.2Ghz, 2GB DDR3, Windows 7.

Thanks!

If you're not gaming and running 1 or 2 screens, get the cheapest card that has the outputs you want (VGA/HDMI/DVI/DP). Fortunately the days of low end cards not being able to do everything outside gaming are long gone - I still remember being shocked my 6600GT couldn't run full screen WMVHD video! These days, a 5450 or 610 will handle anything a non-gamer can throw at it.

Before I was gaming I used on-board and my laptop uses onboard too (Can even game on that albeit at lowest graphics settings) So really unless your running multiple screens I'd just stick with on board and save yourself the money. If that doesn't cut it for you then get a 610 or something similar (Or pick up an old GTS 400 series for £20)
