Cheapest way to get an AM4 bracket?

Have you been able to source the TRUE universal bracket?

I'll be interested in getting one myself to see if I can get an AXP-140 into an ftz-01 itx case.
No idea where brackets are, but I think AXP-140 will fit case, but will it fit your motherboard? What mount do you currently have?

I don't see why it would be a problem with any mbrd seeing as the bracket just replaces the std bracket, or are you talking about the cooler itself?

I haven't tried yet, but I see about 5 weeks has passed so I'll try, thanks for the reminder :).

Have you tried thermalright.de in Germany? They are the nearest Thermalright I know of. Sometimes helpful, sometimes not.

See previous page, that's who I emailed ;), and I've just done so again, asking for an update.

Not to discourage you, but this was an absolute nightmare for me. I first asked Thermalright to help with this in July 2019. I followed up three times over the months and eventually was able to make a 'handling and postage' payment of EUR 14.99 in March 2020 (8 months later). I had to make the request three times in different ways as well (initial e-mail, e-mail again to a specific address, then a PayPal payment).

UPS then sent the package to the wrong address and I still don't have the kit, almost a year later.

I really hope your experience is better than mine!

That's terrible! Not sure if UPS is to blame for lost parcel as they rarely deliver to wrong address. Maybe pacel was mislabeled? I've been dealing with Thermalright many years, started a year or so after first heatpipe cooler came out. But haven't done anything the last year or two. Think I might email them and see if there is some way to resolve these problems. Maybe explain how much good publicity they would get if they all original owners of their coolers free mount upgrades like Noctua does. Might be a little expensive in beginning but definitley get their image back on track.

I've had loads of their products over the years. I remember being so excited mounting the cooler that had a second heatsink on the backplate that stuck out the side of the motherboard; I probably spent more on cooling than on the actual hardware! Even had their northbridge/southbridge sinks on that board.

I guess all companies have good times and bad times. It just took me aback how bad this experience was. There are lots of good cooling companies about now though - it's probably passed time I switched to BeQuite or Noctua.

I still have one of those IFX-14 with HR-10 backplate cooler! It would definitely be problem for an up-to-date mount.

I've seen peeps complaining about be quiet! mount because of it's through motherboard mounting from back side. Usual reason was not reading instructiions and trying to mount it from front/top side. I never had a problem with them and I mounted several when I was testing coolers. I think new ones mount from front side, but I haven't used any of them.

I don't know about you, but even when I had more time and used to 'tinker' with my PC for more hours than actually running it I still didn't remount the CPU cooler more than a handful of times during it's life.

As long as the mounting is:
a) Possible
b) Hard to mess up
c) Secure

I'm okay with it.

That said I did do watercooling for a short while in pursuit of a quiet machine, so my tolerance for faff when it comes to computer hardware may be unusually high.

//Edit: can't believe you still have the IFX-14 with HR-10. Slightly (and weirdly, because what use is it now?) jealous. Mine got 'thrown out' before I had more control over my possessions!

I agree, unless user is doing a lot of testing of components CPU coolers rarely need to be removed. Probably most common issue is users changing RAM, and most of us rarely if ever change RAM.

Indeed, that pretty well covers mounts. I like solid thru-motherboard mounts with screws/nuts and no clip-ons. I do like thumb screws/nuts instead of tiny ones, and sometimes it's nice to have crossbar secured (HR / Macho coolers are kinda hard to mount because of tiny screws and un-secured crossbar). Noctua mounts are some of the best. Phanteks are also quite good, as are Cryorig, be quiet!, and some others. While Thermalright work very well they are not quite as easy to work with .. still not really hard to use either.

My biggest complaint about Thermalright is fan clips are the devil's spawn without a doubt. They are/have finally changed to easier to use fan clips.

I think we are like many informed users with a decent set of mechinical skills. We like quality products, good mounts, and really like having good, detailed instructions and dimensional drawing as needed. Some users have a hard time using a toothbrush. ;)

Tell me about it - I got a Colgate one yesterday and there was no manual, no installation guide, nothing! Not so much as a driver CD. Then it turns out I have to buy thermal paste separately, and I'm supposed to get special TIM cleaner and tools if I want optimal performance.

I mean, come on - how are you supposed to know this stuff!

LOL

Current distribution and marketing at least for Europe seems lacking.

They used to be available everywhere.

If the company can't do it themselves, it makes you wish they could partner with someone like Corsair to give the products wider reach. Their coolers and fans are still top notch.

I hope I don't have the problems you did!
Not heard back from Thermalright so far, I would just buy a new cooler, but I want to make good use of my old Ultima90 & not bin a perfectly good & decent cooler!
Not in any immediate hurry, but I wouldn't want to wait months either.

Might want to check out the B-Grade section over at OCUK. If I had known the pain I would have gone through with Thermalright I would just have gotten this instead (might be too big if you're using an Ultima90, check dimensions!):

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £24.95 (includes shipping: £0.00)

You could then sell the Ultima90 on the Members Marketplace. I'm sure someone can make use of it for the right price! If not there are always auction sites. Nothing needs to go to waste any more these days!
