Hi,

Between me and a friend (not the MG ZR one ;) ) we are looking at buying a cheap car for a H2R rally and maybe a ring beast. Whats the best method/price insurance we can get for 2 18 year olds, though one has 1 year NCB.

third party only

dont listen to anyone whop says insure it under your mums name and add you as a named driver, its illegal and invalidates your insurance if its your car and you drive it most.

:)

Norwich Union seem to like my bangers. There's usually little/no price difference between TPO and TPFT though on a car that cheap.

Unless your company is aware that you are infact the main driver. Which is perfectly legal.

how would they know if you drove it the most?

I insured my volvo in my moms name, but thats because i only sometimes use it for work (1 mile each way) and that was £250 TPFT.

TPFT is usually cheaper than TPO for some odd reason.

Because the kind of car you insure TPO is the kind of car you won't have any qualms about denting ;).

Buy a trailor and get it towed to the 'ring'.

Now sure how many £100 cars can be described as beasts. :p

You havent seen which car it could be. ;) If you knew the plans you would certainly agree it is 100% beast!

Trailored isnt an option when its being entered in a rally now is it? :p Cheating i would personally say. ;)

If the 'ring' is the one in Nurburg then I think it's actually a public road and therefore you'll need insurance. It's also a bloody long way to tow a trailer :p.

I also wouldn't fancy driving a £100 car any kind of distance. Up the budget to £500 and you'll have a lot more fun.

Not when the home2rome you need a sub £100 car i cant really. You see the predicament now? :p Also before anyone says, yes i realise i have a screw loose for wanting to ring a £100 car!

Ebay and scrappers is really the best places to find them. Be careful though as scrapyard tried to flog a Nova for £100 which was a real dog. Old Saab 9000, 1.8 diesel Escort, older Volvo's really. But im looking at something more fun then them.
