Hmm fair enough. To be perfectly honest I know very little about RAM. It may be worth taking a trip to the RAM dedicated forum.

If you really want to get 4GB then its no big deal, just leave one stick out of your PC and use it when you go to Vista/64bit OS. 2GB really works just fine with XP , just setup your page file well to give you that extra breathing room.

Btw , so that you dont have any problems with your build, have the newest BIOS drivers at hand and on a flash drive/floppy and install it before XP. So that your mobo will correctly see your CPU.

If your gonna run XP 4GB ram causes nothing but problems, plus XP can only see 2/2.5/3GB depending on your board.

if you mean to post it twice (ie 4x1gb), change it to 2x2gb, corsair is about £70.

Money wise its easier the way im doing it, im gonna buy 1x2gb to start with and then buy another 2gb once i have everything for the comp and its up and running, then ill add the extra ram, hdd, dvdrw, mce remote fans etc.

What fans shall i get if i get the Antec 300 case.

i'd swap the rear 120mm fan to the front as an intake and leave the upper 140mm as outlet to start with.

if you find u need more have a look at the yate loons.

4gb will make my system run without any bloody issues compared to my laptop!!! I cant stand waiting around, i move around the comp too fast for that..

What you recon to this? I actually think its crap due to the price/make..

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...2GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ)

That ram is very good ram, the make is very good, and it overclocks very well, £60 is a good price, and it's cheaper than what you have specced (£8x2 = £76...) 2x2gig sticks will put less strain on your northbridge and cause LESS problems than 4x1gig, so there is absolutely no reason at all to not buy that...

This is a load of BS tbh, 4gig in xp has caused me NO prblems for the last 2 years of using 4gig... XP can detect all 4gig, as long as you are running 64bit version (same goes for vista, vista will not detect all 4gig if it's the 32bit version, but it will if it's 64bit...) Also, if running 4 gig on 32bit windows, it's not the motherbaord that determins how much ram is seen, it's how much video memory you have (mainly)

Why don't you like partitioning hdd's? 1x 500gig samsung F1 will save you a good £20 over 2x 250gig drives...

Rest of the spec looks pretty good =)

Im gonna run MCE not XP Pro, ill get the 2x2gb sticks then if theres gonna be a big diff..

Is there such a thing as MCE 64? I aint heard of such a thing, just wondering if its hovering around.

I dont like partitioning at all, i dont like the process of it i never have done, plus i find it better and safer just to have one drive as a backup.

I remer doing this ages ago, it changes so much towards the end, getting excited now.
