So my Nephew has been going on and on about getting me to build him a desktop PC for Netflix and general internet use. I already have the Case, Keyboard, Monitor, Mouse, OS, RAM [4GB DDR3 1333MHz] and CPU cooler, however I will be buying the rest of the parts from OcUK.

I would appreciate it if you could check the parts I have noted below and confirm im on the right track? :)

I would change the SSD for this:

The Intel uses the Sandforce controller which is a NO NO!

I personally think you would have been better off with Trinity:

Thanks for that mate. Im set on an Intel build however and already got 4GB of RAM for him. Thanks again.

not bad, but i would change the psu to an XFX 450w

It is, main one will offer the ability to overclock if your nephew upgrades to a K series CPU in future.

(Don't forget this is a ATX board)

Many thanks. Yes I note it's an ATX board but that is not an issue. He's just happy that his uncle is building him a computer (if only he knew how easy it is) Im more excited than he is tbh lol!

Having said that, this isn’t likely to be a concern, as MSI has crippled the EFI of the G43 to such levels that you’re unlikely to be able to coax a major overclock out of the board. The measly 0.06V that you’re able to add to the Vcore is very low, and meant that we could only overclock our test CPU to 4.4GHz, rather than the 4.8GHz we’ve been able to hit with every other Z77 board.

Mobo is B grade so might need sata cables (it's £48 new but out of stock). Nice thing about this H61 is that it has USB3 but also sataIII which is rare and it's a great price. Gigabyte do have a 3 year uk warranty, would be nice to get the mobo new. As B grade it's 90 days with OCuk and whatever is left with the manufacturer.

PSU is modular with enough juice for a modest GPU too. Cheaper optical drive might as well put the couple of quid towards a network card with faster speeds. SSD is still sataIII and for the sake of a little more cash has much greater capacity (I don't think 60GB drives are good value to be honest).

Better CPU, the pricing on the pentium CPUs is rather odd.....the 840 is the same price but is slower :/ You could even drop in a GPU later to help it play some games, even a 2nd hand 1GB 460 or 6850 for £50ish would do nicely and out do the current consoles
