I already have a 200W6CS Philips monitor so yeah... What do you think guys?

great spec mate... let me know how the keyboard pans out for you... I'm thinking about getting one of them as well :)

Stelly

Cool, thanks mate was hoping for a reply from you! :D Will let you know about the keyboard sure. :)

I think i'm pretty set on this spec, have been researching and reading etc... Lets see what other people say :p

Ah shucks :)

Also those Akasa Ambers are deadly quiet... have 5 or 6 (lost count) installed on my computer and I only get a slight humming... I would consider partitioning your spinpoint, for the OS and the gaming unless you have a HDD already at home, and if your willing to splash out a little mybe go for a Raptor 36Gb just for the OS, but thats just my spending streak in me coming out, but that spec is turely really good

Stelly

Yeah this pc will be for gaming mainly so i'll make a partition for the OS and leave the rest for gaming. Work etc is done on another pc. For the OS what do you recommend? XP Pro or XP Pro 64bit?

I love the spec wish I could spend that much for a PC.

Let me know how the keyboard and mouse mat are thinking of getting them both.

I have 1 thing to say to you - Your first build, lot of money DONT **** IT UP

EDIT
XP 64 wouldnt make much of a difference on that spec. So save a bit of money and go for XP Pro

Just normal Windows XP Pro... as your going dual core, and did you know that home edition does not support multicore... if I remember right... little trivia for you there... I dont think Windows XP 64bit is worth it since by the time you will really need a 64bit OS Vista will be fully out and kicking!!!

Yer if you need any help with the build at all please let me know :)

Will do mate :) And I won't mess it up! (Hopefully!) I'll do it calmly and smoothly :p and it's going to get cooler soon so yay!

Yeah good luck. I whish it would cool down my PC keep restarting because I don't turn fans up because they make too much noise.

Oh make sure to get a good Fan COntroler and templ monitor.

You going to be OCing it?

Ah right thanks Stelly, XP Pro it is then :p. Was 80% (very accurate :p ) sure that i should use XP pro as the OS. Thanks mate

Yeah mate, hope to do so. That's why Im getting the Thermaltake BT and the Zalman VGA cooler. Found out that changing the cooler on the graphics card will void the warranty :o So im going to use it for a bit and then if it's all fine and dandy, i'll change the VGA cooler to the Zalman

One of the reasons I went for a custom water cooling setup :)

Beenom please do realise that the moment you take off the standard VGA cooler on your ATI gfx card you invalidate the warrenty

Stelly

Yeah I know :( . Thats why im going to keep it at stock for a while and make sure that there are no problems with it. And when i'm confident that it's all fine, i'll put the new cooler on.

 Thats another thing I didnt think about when I took off the cooler!!! :(

Stelly

:p Im sure it'll be fine though :). They don't have the menacingly high death rate as the 7900GT? I think it is ;). It'll be fine mate :)

XP Home will do (unless you use/need this)!

What Home doesn't support is multiple processors, i.e. mobo's which take 2 processors or more (if any). A Dual-Core CPU is considered as 1 processor

EDIT:
Multi-core (computing) said:
Another issue is the question of software licensing for multi-core CPUs. Typically enterprise server software is licensed "per processor". In the past a CPU was a processor (and moreover most computers had only one CPU) and there was no ambiguity. Now there is the possibility of counting cores as processors and charging a customer for two licenses when they use a dual-core CPU. However, the trend seems to be counting dual-core chips as a single processor as Microsoft, Intel, and AMD support this view. Oracle counts AMD and Intel dual-core CPUs as a single processor but has other numbers for other types. IBM, HP and Microsoft count a multi-chip module as multiple processors. If multi-chip modules counted as one processor then CPU makers would have an incentive to make large expensive multi-chip modules so their customers saved on software licensing. So it seems that the industry is slowly heading towards counting each die (see Integrated circuit) as a processor, no matter how many cores each die has. Intel has released Paxville which is really a multi-chip module but Intel is calling it a dual-core. It is not clear yet how licensing will work for Paxville. This is an unresolved and thorny issue for software companies and customers.
Beenom, spec looks sweet! Hope you enjoy the build (& also make sure you read the manual/s & have them by your side) :D

Software wise, 'invest' in this two:
Very useful & both have literally saved my behind on several occasions :o

The only thing that attracts me is the remote desktop thing, but then you can use any freeware software for that! So XP Home or Pro hmm will decide later! Also thanks for the software suggestions, I'll "invest" in them now ;) :p
