What is the best software to use to monitor hard drive performance (speed, etc)?

HDTach or HDTune are probably the best and should return fairly similar results, actually come to think of it I don't know of any more without searching.

Just tried running HDtach but it's only for XP.

I have Vista 64 bit.

Does anyone know of any that is Vista compatible?

HDTune supports Vista.

hd-tach works fine in Vista

just run as Admin and run HD-TACH in "XP SP2 Compatability mode"
