Chelsea and Ballack

Not being a Chelsea fan this thread has been quite interesting.

My question is, what effect will getting Ballack in have on Frank Lampard's game.

Frank is the best attacking Midfielder in England (possibly Europe at the moment. Ronaldinho is a forward for me).

Ballack is a great player but too similar to Franky boy. Could end up with England's problem with Gerrard & Lampard in the same side!

Frank can't sit and hold.

The only thing Chelsea can do is play 4-5-1 to accomodate them and that would have an effect on Jose's widemen.

In my opinion, Chelsea are a far better side when they use Robben and Duff out wide!

Out Crespo, Geremi and Possibly Robben

I dont hold that much to the argument that Lampard and Ballack are too simmilar. Ballack will bring another dimension to the team thats for sure. Ballack will be immense in Europe and he has the ability to control and dictate the pace of a game which really is the only thing I think Chelsea are missing. Horses for Courses and all that but Chelsea will have the option to play a variety of different formations now

If Kenyon's 3 out statement is true, then it'll be Gallas, Crespo & either C.Cole, Eidur or maybe Duff.

I've been saying all season that Gallas wants to play abroad:
"I have been here five years and maybe that's enough. I am a man who wants to win everything and I want to do that in different countries," Gallas said.
Crespo looks a cert to go especially if his & Terry's reaction on Saturday was anything to go by. Mind you, he had to be dragged back here kicking & screaming in the first place anyway.
As for the 3rd, I guess that depends on whether Eidur wants first team football every week:/
Bridge will be coming back from Fulham so that's one in & we'll need another striker.

Lampard will go to Barcelona.

His missus is Spanish, he's fluent in the language, and they dont need him now they have Ballack......

Missed that. What happened. I kind of turned *** TV Off after we had been stuffed 3-0. By accident ofc ;)

How can you not need Lampard?

As stated several times, he's very similar to Ballack. You cant play them both in the same team, and he'd be happy to go to Barca, who'd be equally happy to pay 20m+ for him.

Lampards happy, Chelsea are happy, Barcelona are happy.

JM reckons you can play them together & that's why he wants him:
Ballack is very fit and scores a lot of goals. In Europe I only know Lampard and Ballack who play at this level," Mourinho declared.
"Together they would be the dream pairing in Europe."

More to the point Chelsea do no have the need or the desire to sell one of their best players to who could be one of their closest rivals in Europe. The only thing that would make it possible is if Lampard wanted to move and that would make the opportunity more viable

being a united fan I cant honestly see Chelski selling many of their players this summer, everyone was talkin about who they would get rid of last year and who ended up goin?

I cant even remember but I know the only reason they had a different starting lineup was because of the players they'd bought rather than got rid of.

I think SWP will go, even if he has an awesome World Cup it wont change anything except the amount they'll get from him, which even if he scores in every game shouldnt be near the price they paid for him, he isnt worth that, never really rated him near wingers like Robben, Giggs (in his day) and maybe even Duff.

Of the others I hope Eidur goes, of all the Chelsea players I like him the most, he just likes to play football, I remember in an interview a few years ago he said he'd always seen himself at the Old Trafford.

I dont think unless Mourinho throws a hissy many of the lineup will go, Lampard definitely wont, with Ballack I think one of them 2 will go next year, if Ballack adjusts well to the PL then it will be Lampard to Barca most likely, otherwise Ballack will be off.

Even though I'm goin back on what I said, Mourinho is goin to have to get rid of some players and soon, I reckon January though is when Kenyon the Traitor is gonna sit him and down and tell him he has 20 world class first team players with only 13 or so happy, probably less even.

No way Lampard is going anywhere, he's happy at Chelsea and would consider living in Barcelona only once he's finished playing football. Along with Terry he's been the lynchpin of Chelsea's success, they don't need the money, so why would they sell him? Chelsea don't play by the same rules as everyone else, bringing in a new player earning £6m/year doesn't mean that they have to sell other players in his position.

As for Crespo, the only thing that is keeping him at Chelsea is his pay packet. Lets be honest, from a football perspective somebody like him isn't going to be happy playing second fiddle to Drogba. IIRC he is on £94k/week which means that unless he takes a paycut there probably won't be many clubs prepared to take him on.
