Cher Lloyd - Swagger Jagger

Guys, is this No.1?

I actually looked it up, partially in hope this country had some sense and refused to buy it, and partially in fear that they might have done.

Apparently its out end of the month, but looking up the ginger girl's alouds monstrosity of a song, apparently it did go as stupidly high as 23 but is 76th this week.

They are both bad but, Cher's thing just comes across as really bad music, Roberts comes across as someone completely psychotic/retarded and that still got to number 23 and without the newish X-factor fame working for her but half a decade of being the one who makes it difficult to fap while watching a Girls aloud video.

It just proves how **** music is today.
Not really, it proves how many teenage girls paid to download the track - which is exactly what was expected by the people who gave her the record deal. It's a way of making money, and I take my hat off to them. How many houses in how many different countries does Simon Cowell have?

I have no interest in pop music though so I'll quite happily ignore this and the rest of the genre and carry on listening to stuff I do like. There are plenty of bands/artists/DJ's knocking out 'good' music at the same time as Cher Lloyd, why not just stick with what you like and don't let this annoy you?

Great post and goes to show Cowell knows what he's doing.
The only way to fight him is to get people buying several copies of a song that they may not like and knock Cowell off the top slot for a week.
Oh, you already did that.

I remember, when people were berating her (well, they still are) and claimed that she wouldn't amount to anything. Of course, I disagreed and she has managed to make No.1.

This song is what is referred to as bubblegum pop and is usually suited to the kiddies. Just because some of you don't like her music, it doesnt make it bad...it just means that your musical taste is different, that's all.

Cowell certainly knows what he is doing.

It will be very interesting to see if the winner of XFactor (I can't remember what his name is), can score some big hits. I know that he has already scored a big hit with his first single, but that was right off the back of the TV Show. The true test is when an artist is able to make songs, year after year and still sell a decent amount.

The XFactor winner's career is who I am more interested in, if only to see how far he goes.

Sales figures have gone down.

Apparently, most bands/singers make most of their money by touring and selling concert/show tickets. Releasing the songs in the charts merely serves as a means to advertise your music. The real money is in the ticket sales.

This is why the biggest selling artists in the World are those that tour most.

I remember looking at the top earning acts last year and I think bands like U2 and ACDC are the biggest earners, even though they hardly release singles in the charts.

Yeah the record company takes basically all the money from music sales. They use all kinds of tricks like getting the artist to pay for the music videos themselves and things like that.

The world has truly gone to pot with this number one. Or has it? I'm not so sure anyone likes this.

I remember a long time ago, a music artist stated that unless you are signed to big music label who are prepared to market you, getting a No.1 is tough (almost impossible).

What he said was that if a big label wants to get to No.1, they will and there is virtually nothing you can do to stop it. It doesnt matter how bad the single is or how good the rival singles are.

From the minute I heard that, I realised that the music charts are not really a true reflection of how good a song is. It merely is a reflection of how well the music company has marketed that particular single.

If this single stays at No.1 next week, what it means is that the public genuinely do like it, as the marketing by the record company will have died down a little (they tend to do the big push in the first week...after that, they let the single fly on its own).

Cher Lloyd is highly marketable...Cowell saw this in the very first XFactor audition and the fact that a single, which isn't really that good, has made No.1, tells us this. If the single was great, it could be argued that the single made No.1 because of it's quality and not the marketing.

Does anybody know when the XFactor winner is going to be releasing his second single?

What a strange name for a song.

Swagger Jagger
A word used to describe the act of a prostitute receiving triple penetration during group sex. Common phrase used in Gypsy/Traveler culture.
