Chernobyl pics (new)

Bumped but 23 years ago today it blew.

The reactor accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was the worst in history, resulting in a severe nuclear meltdown. On 26 April 1986 at 01:23:40 a.m. reactor number four at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant located in the former Soviet Union near Pripyat in Ukraine exploded. Further explosions and the resulting fire sent a plume of highly radioactive fallout into the atmosphere and over an extensive geographical area.

It still is on my list of things to do before I die, to go visit Chernobyl & Pripryat etc. Think it's such an amazing place, so creapy heh.

Same here. I have been reading into Chernobyl for many many years now. Its a fascination learning about it.
Every time i have watched a DVD/Documentary or read a book i have always found it hard to stop.

I know I shouldn't , but I chuckled at this...

"On our way to the palace of culture now. Its not advisable to sit on these chairs for too long, if you value having working balls."

Some of the guys rather colourful use of language actually grates with me a little bit. I think mainly out of jealousy that someone clearly unable to describe a situation without using foul language has been somewhere I truly desire to go.

If anyone wants to go this year, give me a shout, always wanted to go ever since I've been a kid. Have heaps of books on the subject and love the whole atmosphere the place radiates. I've tried convincing the missus to go but I got a slap and told where to go.

Thanks to everyone who posted something of interest here. Great thread !! Just spent an hour going through all the videos and photos.

I watched a really good program on sky recently, can't remember which channel, probably discovery/national geographic. It showed how wildlife has got on and evolved since the accident. I can't for the life of me remember the name of it, hopefully someone here will. Well worth watching when it comes on again.

Have some stars, can't believe no one has rated this (Although I am a bit of a science geek).
