Chest Expanders

Sorry but bs, he asked where to get a specific product, not for your advice on if he should use one or not its really that simple. yes you could argue your first response isn't sarcastic, except it was, you know what you were leading to, everyone in this thread knows you were leading him into the "I want uber big chest muscles man" answer so you can come back with all the reasons why chest expanders aren't as good as freeweights, then someone can make a funny retort about how the op probably has 5 protein shakes a day to go along with his chest expander, etc, etc.

Try not to make sweeping generalisations and put words into people's mouths.

As far as I see it, and some people have expressed above, Morba gave a perfectly valid question which he got a sarky answer to. I don't think he can be held responsible.

EDIT: and DM, I think you're taking it a bit seriously. I don't know why you've got so stressed about this, it's not even your thread.

Plenty of other people on the forum appreciate your advice Morba.

Indeed they do, please don't get riled up over some silly comments.
People come here to discuss their goals and get advice on how best to achieve them. Unless this guy was after a chest expander because he collects them or something then it isn't going to be any good, simple.

Morba gives sound advice, with a very unique posting style. DM, you've used this oppurtunity to pounce on him. He asked a question in a reply to a question so that he could help.

All you've actually done is begin a huge argument between a very well respected poster and yourself (someone i've never noticed around these types of threads or to offer any real advice, corect me if im wrong) successfully derailing the thread and ruining HarryPainful's chances of finding his chest expander. Well done. Enough said, I'm sure Morba is capable of standing up for himself ;)

While I'm posting I may as well try and help. unfortunatley I don't know where you can find a Y shaped chest expander. Is there any particular reason why you want to use a chest expander? and specifically a Y shaped one?

The point is the guy asked where to get it, he didn't ask for a detailed idea of how they work or if he should use one. He asked a simple question he didn't ask you to go out of your way to find one or make an unreasonable request, it was simple if you knew where to get one its next to no effort for you to tell him where. If you don't know, fine, if you do know, great, there is no request for anything else.

If I came on here and asked how I should commit suicide (I'm not by the way, just an example), would it be the right thing to do for somebody to respond telling me the best way, rather than asking why I wanted to do so?

All Morba was trying to do was dig a little deeper and, if his goals don't warrant a chest extender, try to help the OP in finding another way to reach his goals. If anything it would be a shame if the OP did go out and waste money on a chest extender, if his goals don't require one. Surely the end of saving the OP money which could possibly be wasted outweighs the means of asking him a potentially pointless question.

Morba, a lot of people on here value your advice. I hope that the people who don't don't make you stop giving it out!

Am I just being a moron or does anyone else fail to see how a 'chest expander' actually does anything for your pecs?

That does your back and shoulders...

It's a discussion forum, not a Q&A forum.

If he was wanting one for the wrong reasons then Morba and co would have set him straight effectively helping him.

If he had a justifiable reason, than so be it, no one is any worse off.

Except if you are too touchy to handle a simple question that is.

It is quite clear that there was no animosity towards th OP, just a request for more info so as to help.

What is the problem with that?

By Y shape does he mean the ones that you push together the two handles and the top bit expands and is resisted by a 3 spring system, whole thing looks a bit like a giant pair of retarded scissors?

If so, I've not seent them anywhere for years, used to have some when I was younger, used them regularly and the joint ended up bending mid exercise and I nearly took myself out with them, this was after putting them on maximum tension. The joint couldn't take the strain and buckled.

As a member, I side completely with Morba and at his defense.

As a moderator I see this thread has been completely ruined by needless squabbling over people reading between the line and adding 2+2 to equal 5. It's stupid - can we not discuss it further and can the OP answer the simple questions that Morba et al have asked which were perfectly valid IMO.
