I'll have to give this a go. At the moment I'm using a Keith Floyd receipe. He uses not one but two marinades.

The first one is for about 20 minutes and is just chili powder and lemon uice or vinegar. His second is just yoghurt, garlic, ginger and cumin (I always add a bit of turmeric, partly just for the colour).

I never know if I should just keep it simple, or try adding more spices.

sounds good but I tried this many a time never seems to taste as good as it does in the shops

A tandoori oven would be better

can you please explain step 2 a little bit more?

they taste better on a BBQ, than in an oven, i cut them quite small and they take about 5 mins on a BBQ
step 2 skewering?
soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 mins (or use metal ones)
then just skewer them. sometimes i will use chopped green peppers and/or a small onion halved

yay pictures are back, that looks great and the kebab style of eating them is win. Will be trying this, this week.
I'm taking it marinade should be over night?
