Children's camera

As a slightly different option, could you not get a cheap digital camera along with a protective case?
I know you can get camera armour things for SLR's so can't see why you shouldn't be able to get some sort of protection against being dropped for kids to use.

thats an option, how protective are the cases and what sort of cost would they be. Also, how restrictive are they in terms of using the camera while in the case?

As previously said - they are crap but the little en loves the fact she can take pics.
Dont think any normal cam protected or not will take the abuse.

a couple of pics that have been taken would be nice if possible :]

if the quality is really that bad then i wont bother, would want him to be able to look at the pics and recognise what they are meant to be of hehe

Here you go....

They can have fun with the borders etc. Its got a flash but when its used it just comes out overexposed

No focus either...

All these are the native res btw, its something really low....

yeah it is low by the looks of it.

thinking my boy would like the playing with borders and adding stuff as well.

when adding stuff to the pics, do they save as a new file or overwrite the original pic?

I bought one for my cousin. He loves it. The photos aren't great but you can do other things with it like add stickers onto the photos and smudge the faces, stuff like that. Even though the quality of the images are bad, he still has fun taking the photos and is proud when he shows them off. Basically you should view it as a toy. If you want something for taking good photos on then get a real camera, but if you want something for him to have a bit of fun with then go for it.

You put the effects on, then take the pic.

To be honest, mine just like taking the pics. I don't even save them now. I just wipe it when its full and hand it back.

yeah, it would be a toy but one that i would like him to be able to know what the picture was of hehe.
sounds pretty much perfect tbh.

ahh cool, that makes things a bit better :]

I got my little girl one of the Vtech cameras for christmas and she loves it.

It still gets used daily in our house and she takes it everywhere, The pics aren't amazing quality but tbh most of the time they will take pics of everything they come across on a day out.

The thing can take a beating as well (I dropped it out of my pocket onto the platform whilst running for a train and it was fine)

Competitor are currently doing the "My First Digital Camera Kit" for about £6... similar thing to the Vtech just a bit smaller.

My 4 year old daughter has the VTECH one too - bomb proof and she loves it.

Takes video and well as pics, we just shoved an SD card in it as the internal memory is virtually non-existent.

Batteries seem to last well too.
