chinese alphabet

The only thing you can do, on the safe side, is to get a Chinese newspaper, look in the sports section and find the word for chelsea in there. That is as official as you are going to get for a phonetic translation.

Due to the next Chinese person he encountered saying "hey mate why have you got Sweet and Sour Pork tattooed on your bicep" :D

He didn't trash me and he realised what it meant after another counter-boy told him. Lucky for me, he had some sense of humour and laughed it off as "next time I want some sweet and sour, I'll just show them *this*"

He didn't blame me - he was pretty drunk when he came in asking me for "cool chinese words for his next tattoo"...

Moral of the story: I got lucky, he was drunk, now he's got something to tell his grandkids...

Lol,you were very lucky there mate!

I did something similar well nowhere near that daring but my mates always ask me to speak chinese and write chinese for them one day I just got so fed up I agreed. With my chinese limited to UK A-Level Chinese standard I did not know how to right something that sounds like Christopher so I wrote the first thing that came to mind, yup Crispy Duck. Still haven't told him its not actually his name tho. :o

if you really want, i can find out on friday. A friend of mine supports chelsea and since he's from Hong Kong I'm sure he'll know.

Errm... I just went to Chelsea FC site and there's a Chinese page, can you not see the characters?

切尔西

Can you see 3 chinese characters in the quote? That's the official chinese phonetics for Chelsea.

It reads- Chel-er-sea and thats read phonetically in Mandarin (what majority of Chinese speaks, not Cantonese, which majority Hong Kong people speaks)

Thats the thing, he can get Traditional or simplified, Mandarin or Cantonese. So what's right ? :p

If that 3 word is from .cn, then it should be simplified chinese.

as far as im aware, the only chinese speaking countries/community using traditional chinese - taiwan and hong kong.

by the way...why on EARTH does he want chelsea written in chinese?

Sorry guys havent been in the thread last night, was asked to post it from a mate, so used my phone to do it.Chelsea....its Rangers he wants ;) . I aint into football so i wouldnt get a tattoo like that, but who am i to talk....I just got the Suzuki Hayabusa Logo as a Tattoo on my arm yesterday :D

Thanks for the help guys, i tried to do a bit of searching but as you all said best bet is to go into the Tattoo place or newspaper articles.

If your going to get a Chinese tatoo get a propper Chinese word or phrase. What on earth is the point in getting "Rangers" in Chinese?

It's quite laughable.

I wouldnt know, its not me thats getting it. I am just trying to help someone out here, everyone to there own thing. Was just wondering if there was anywere i could find out how to get it translated, your opinion on what you think of the actual tattoo is not needed thanks.

I had a similar problem, so I got a Chinese person at our work to do three different variants of what I wanted (My wifes name and mine, and when/where we got married :) )

Then I waited a few months and asked her to do it again :D

If anyone asks, I usually jokingly say its my favourite chinky dish :D

What about being a bit different and having it written in Japanese katakana script instead? You don't often see that on people's bodies.

It would be about (re-i-n-jya---su) six and a half characters long. Can't write it for you because my work PC doesn't have Japanese installed.
