Chinese GP 2009 - Race 3/17

when drivers were men and rain didnt mean instant RED flags.

the race was eventually stopped but atleast they had a go and the standing water on some corners was proper crazy by the end and no doubt those cars were atleast 10x harder to drive than todays

Sorry but thats like saying Ronaldo would fit in with Vinnie Jones, Tony Adams, its just a different era, you cant compare the 2 no matter how you justify it.

What time is the race?

Wonder how much of this apparent pace from the Mclarens is true.
I'm looking forward to finding out, are the other cars not pushing as hard, or has this car took a huge leap forward?
Ofcourse the KERS is likely playing a massive effect here I'd imagine.

Thus far, it seems so.....

Lewis Hamilton's hopes of recovering from his disastrous start to the 2009 Formula 1 season were lifted as he set the pace in first practice in China.

The defending world champion benefited from a revamp to his McLaren to set the fastest lap in Shanghai.

Brawn's Jenson Button, the winner of the first two races, was second quickest, 0.116 seconds adrift.

We will know by Sunday night! :)

Good to see Mclaren were show boating lol! Normal service has been resumed.

The virgin logos are gone from the Brawn cars, seems like they are having trouble finding a decent sponsor for the season!

Ferrari doing what they know best, not using KERS, spinning the cars, burning tyres!

This. Stefano will be long gone at this rate.

Problem is finding someone even as good as Jean Todt seems to be an issue, look at what Whitmarsh has been upto across the way, forget about getting someone as good as Ross Brawn to head the team! I think its time Chris Dyer took over :)

They desperately need a big sponsor, not going to send out very good signals if the team keeps winning and can't secure funding.

The really do need a big sponsor. I wonder how much funding they have. I have said before, it is ok for them just now winning, but i don't know if they will be able to keep up the development pace for Europe when the big teams will be churning out mods regularly.

What is doing brawn a big favor is Red Bull are going to be late adding the new diffuser, because they are almost on pace with Brawn with their current one. I shudder to think how quick that car would be if it was running a 2 teir diffuser.

Good call about Dyer, been impressed with him. I bet LDM will be raging as he publicly stated that there 'must' be improvements and with the diffuser development way behind the competition, it will be lean times indeed for us Fezza fans :(

Red Bull I don't believe are anywhere near the Brawn on race pace. Brawn have a fair bit in hand. Jenson was over a second per lap faster than anyone else when he put his foot down.

I doubt they are worried about Red Bulls diffuser. It's not like the big teams can do endless testing like before to catch up.

Wow, i've just been catching up on RSS and I can't believe the politics that are STILL going on with regard to the diffusers. They are legal, that should be the end of it.

I can't see why so many teams are getting annoyed about it, making some pretty rude and personally comments against drivers and teams just because they are on the back foot now. It's turning away from racing and more into a soap opera.

Sour grapes tbh

The other teams realize they made a mistake or took the safe option and now have to redesign the cars just to be competitive.
