Chinese GP 2009 - Race 3/17

Isn't it classed as testing though? Are there rules that they have to use the current '09 spec'd car without any new additions being bolted on?

Any news on a new thread btw?

Testing

Teams will be allowed to carry out three one day young driver training tests between the end of the last event of the Championship and 31 December of the same year. Drivers are eligible only if they have not competed in more than two F1 World Championship Events in the preceding 24 months or tested a Formula One car on more than four days in the same 24 month period.

Teams can also conduct eight one day aerodynamic tests carried out on FIA approved straight line or constant radius sites between 1 January 2009 and the end of the last Event of the 2009 Championship.

Thanks for that :)

Who wanted odds on ferrari not winning a race?

I've found (from Corals bookmakers):

Ferrari to win a race in 2009: 8/11
Ferrari NOT to win a race in 2009: Evs

I'll give you 6/4 ;)

What does make me laugh is the fact Hamilton was 25/1 for the title before this race, but because he's scored a few points he's now 6/1, and Vettel was 14/1 and is now 11/4. Talk about over-reaction.

I got Kimi to win the title @ 5/1 at the start of the season. Had £50 on it.

Now hes 20/1. Massa is 33/1. I cant understand the price difference tbh!

It's in the rules that new driver development days are allowed - as long as they meet certain requirements. Can't remember what they are off the top of my head though.

For Ferrari it makes sense as they have a lot of reliability issues they want to solve. Don't need a proper F1 driver to help solve those... they just need some kids to put some mileage on the car!

Good luck to Ferrari.

apparently Aston Martin are thinking of joining F1

That'd be pretty cool. They last raced in Grand Prix racing in 1960 IIRC, with the DBR4 (which was pretty much from the same school of design as the Maserati 250F, and thus slightly outdated by then with the rear-engined cars coming to the fore).

Beautiful, though:

A £30 million operating budget will lure so many teams into F1 all the tracks will need 3 times the width ;)

A cap is long overdue. More rumours of new teams than in the last 5 years put together already.

I'd hate to see teams make cars and get going only to not be able to race. I think I'd rather see them race even if they didn't make the 107% just to give them some testing time.

I suppose with the testing ban thats what they would have to do. I think an F1 race can easily sustain 30 cars. I'd hope with that many cars to entertain they could go back to the 12 lap quallies. Heres hoping.
