Chinese Grand Prix 2012, Shanghai - Race 3/20

I was absolutely convinced this was on last weekend, to the point of trying to hide from the result before I saw it on the iPlayer, and then getting thoroughly confused when trying to find the race on said site. :o

Stupendously amazing fact of the GP...... [not really]

All of the last 7 winners of this race are on the grid.

2011 Hamilton McLaren
2010 Button McLaren
2009 Vettel Red Bull
2008 Hamilton McLaren
2007 Raikkonen Ferrari
2006 Schumacher Ferrari
2005 Alonso Renault
I'd wager that's true of almost every GP this season though, what with the whole "last six world champions" thing. :p

We-e-ell, there's Malaysia (Giancarlo Fisichella no longer has a race drive). Also Canada (Kubica isn't fit yet), Valencia (no Rubens), Britain (Montoya is NASCAR racin'), Monza (Rubens and Montoya again), and Brazil (Montoya once again). So 6 out of the 20 circuits that F1 is going to this year.

Did you look those up? I was going to, but couldn't be bothered, so opted for "almost" instead. :D

I suppose it depends on whether you count the five (?) GPs that haven't even made it to 7 years old yet, too. I did see you could go back as far as 2000 for Spain though, such was Schumacher's dominance there.

When you hear the noise and see how late they brake and turn into corners, you will be amazed :) Let us know how you get on throughout the weekend if possible

I know, I'm all giddy with excitement. Plus there is a large group of us from the gfs work people. I might try and get a silly hat to stand out!

Lots if pics will be incoming

mother ****er

:D:D

I'll keep my eyes peeled for any suspension failures aswell and hopefully the DRS is setup well on the straight this year!

That's only six winners (he says pedantically) - Hamilton won it twice. The seventh winner was Barrichello, in the inaugural race in 2004.

A slightly more interesting fact: for the last three years (and five times out of eight overall), the winner of the Chinese GP has failed to win the Drivers Championship.

I'm backing Hamilton to win this one; the McLaren is clearly the car in for and he's done well in China historically. Button must be favourite to make things a McLaren 1-2. I'm also backing Michael for the final podium slot, I expect the Mercedes to perform well in China.

Also, F1 on BBC! Yay! I can watch it live :)

It should be Mclarens race if dry. Merc should qually both cars in top few as well, with the long straight allowing them to get good speed with the uber DRS.

lotus are aparently going to lodge an official protest or whatever tommorow.

aparently some daimler ag shareholders are questioning why mercedes are in f1 when they are losing ground to bmw, so if bernie is still trying to screw them over with the new concorde agreement it wouldnt suprise me if dieter zetsche just pulls the plug on f1

Were you not only recently jumping down the throat of anyone who dared suggest Merc would pull the plug if they failed to deliver this year?
