He looks like that BECAUSE he cares. Specifically because he is a born winner. He is not happy unless he is winning.
He is a pure racer, leaves it all out on the track. If he loses he is spent and unhappy..
If he was happy all the time, he would not be a winner, and it would be very boring with all F1 drivers doing the same thing.
You don't get to the top being OK with losing!

I know it is difficult with different tyres and track conditions etc but from qualyfying times in 2018 compared t0 2017 is it clear that ferrari have made a big step forward while merc have stagnated?

You watch, Ferrari will want to stick with this formula now if things keep going their way.. :D

Still, like I said in another post, Hamilton didn’t lead the championship until past the halfway point last year so nothing is a given yet.

However Hamilton could also just be on his way to having a unreliable year this year. I don’t believe he retired from a race at all last year.

Ferrari seem to have found much more engine power this year it seems, their engine sings very nicely if you watch Seb's pole lap again.

I agree with this, and this is the difference between him and Bottas. Bottas doesn't have the killer instinct that Lewis has. I could never imagine Bottas getting miserable enough, or controversial, or angry enough to question why he isn't doing as well as Ferrari or even Lewis when Lewis is beating him.

While it might seem childish that Lewis occasionally throws his toys out of the pram, it goes with the territory and takes that sort of personality and determination to be a winner. Same applies to Vettel as we've all seen him act like that, in fact, much worse than Lewis when things aren't going Vettel's way.

Schumacher, Lauda, Rosberg, and others who won championships a few times all had similar traits and a certain ruthless streak. Not sure about Alonso though when he was winning his championships, maybe he was an exception to this. He never strikes me as someone that gets riled up much.

IIRC, if Hamilton finishes in the points today he will equal the record held by Raikkonen for continuous points finishes. 27 races.
