Chippy for £1??

Battered chips are indeed amazing. Never heard of this supper thing before though.
To me, supper is an evening meal and has nothing to do with a chippy. What if you wanted your fish and chips at lunch time???????

Since moving from Wolverhampton to Stoke for my job at OcUK. I really miss battered chips. Seems to be a local speciality as nobody from OcUK has even heard of them.

Here is a pic of the roe and chips my wife had last weekend from the best chip shop in Bilston (town just outside of Wolverhampton)

Far as im concerned a fish and chip supper is a Catholic jargon thing. I live in a pretty Catholic area and have heard it said in the past by those misguided folk. :p

I think it's the "Plaza" or Westside Plaza...

But what were you doing in Wester Hailes? :p

Aye westside not westwide, I laughed as I was pretending to be in the hood init.

Emmm I was seeing a 'lassie' from neck of the woods. Was a fun place to 'cut about'. I walked from there to the bus depot in the am as we had a fall out one night.

That's why it's called a supper.

A "single" whatever is not deamed to be a meal, add chips - it's your supper.

lol, if I'm ever at the Plaza I even remove the change from the inside of the car :D

Haha is it that bad? I'm from Hamilton and work in the Westwood in East Kilbride so it didn't feel that bad.

Walking along the canal my mate was asked if he had a light, he said aye and pointed up to the street light. Nothing happened :o

No, not really just joking.

It's not that bad but is pretty ghettoish to be honest. Which is a shame as geographically it's actually a pretty sweet area.

Like anywhere it's a minority that pulls it down for normal families in the communities, but it has a reputation on par with Muirhouse (Trainspotting).

These places are very different these days, but tend to still have the most problems with employment casual violence and drink/drugs/crime.

Which is a shame as it is almost always down to a hardcore minority of families that ruin it for everyone else.

Me I'd hunt them down and break their ******* legs, but LBP's mobile antisocial CCTV cameras on a boom van seem to be keeping a hold on antisocial crews.

I say just charge at the wee fannies on horse but unfortunately we have human rights and stuff these days to contend with.

Haha, both with Weegieish accents?

To be honest there are very few bampots rolling the streets these days, so you probably wouldn't. Co-incidently I've been attacked before for not having a fag, said I didn't smoke - he replied with "I didn't ask you that" cue abuse/then threw a right hook which I dodged then he gobbed on the girlfriend when she told him to get a grip and started throwing punches again. Stupid little mongo was lucky that after his friends ran off nearly screaming like girls my girlfriend at the time had the right words to say to effectively pull me off him. I hope looking in the mirror for months after that, he realised what he done wrong that evening. This was at an underpass near Dalry where that foreign student (iirc) was raped for a whole day near enough by two Polish immigrants (again iirc) a year or so ago. Dodgy wee bit and horrid what happened. :(

That must have been around 7 or 8 years ago.

While I try to remain a pillar of the community I do miss a good scrap. ;)

We need names! I've been here 6yrs and still haven't gotten round to trying battered chips.

I don't eat chippies much anymore, feel far too greasy after it. Can feel it like a film all over my mouth and lips.

Bit horrid when you pay attention or change your diet.

You need to visit a decent chip shop, No grease.

Depends what you get, and decent is subjective and certainly rarely to be found in Edinburgh. :)

I used to work in a chippy as a teenager when at school/college, taught pizza's and frying by an Italian family. Eventually had keys for the shop and warmed up and done prep myself, but jacked it in when I was about 17.

Although truth be known if I'd opened my own I'd have probably turned out more wealthy than I am now..

The whole OP didn't make sense. How can the words 'supper' and 'glasgow' be used like that?

Glasgow presumably to denote the city, perhaps in fear of potential streets elsewhere with the same name?

Supper is a quelocialism or slang, technically it means the addition of chips into the bargaining...

Yes we know supper is "tea time" or "dinner" or "evening meal", but we still call whatever + chips a supper anytime of the day 'cause we can and will. So there.
