Choose you fate for 2025 and beyond…

I'm sick of tories as much as the next person, but I do want lower tax, so they're my only hope. I dont mind starmer but some of the labour folks are very woke and I can't stand that. Really annoys me that neither offer proportional representation.

dude, you want lower taxes and you think another tory government will deliver this? The same government that has the highest taxes since records begin..

the same government that has caused fiscal drag?

They’ve increased the tax burden in any single parliament to the most since records began, raising tax to the highest it’s been since the 1940s.

They’ve brought about an economic environment that’s massively hampering growth, and we’re one of the worst performing in the G-20.

Not to mention that they’ve spaffed much of that record-high tax take on their mates. I wouldn’t mind paying more tax if I thought it was being used effectively.

The idea that the Conservatives are the party of fiscal responsibility, in the face of the evidence over the last 13 years, is frankly absurd.

So for that reason, I’m going with B. If nothing else, the Trump thread in SC will continue to be entertaining. :D

I agree.

I can't believe that there are still people who are afraid of financial management under Labour after what the Conservatives have done in the past 14 years. They have run this country in to the ground and all the while increasing taxation to the highest levels we have ever seen.

Sure, I do not like the far left, but then I equally don't like the far right. And at present, the far right has more control over the conservatives than the far left have over Labour.

B.

Tories directly impact life in this country Trump indirectly. So I can just live with the trade off. Plus the US economy boomed under Trump, so good for shares.

Humanity. Not so much. However give the man enough rope to hang himself, and we'll see him swing.

I’ve had this discussion with one of my friends who I manage to upset.

Personally I see political views on a scale rather than factions and depending on where you stand on the scale, someone else standing on the scale could seem pretty far from you, either on the left or the right.

It’s only natural for most people to believe that they stand some where near the middle.

The Tories have been an absolute disaster for this country over the past 13 years. They’ve consistently put saving their party before saving the country. We’re all significantly poorer for it and the damage is going to take decades to fix, if it’s even fixable at all.

But Trump’s recent rhetoric is truly scary. He wants revenge and wants to dismantle democracy in America. It feels like over the past decade that the chances of another American civil war have dropped from lottery odds to raffle odds. A second Trump term drops them to roll of a die odds. If Britain lost its closest ally, we would be truly stuffed.

So I don’t know. I guess the gambling man in me says B.

Trump UK government and Labour in the White House.

Oh man, that would be INSANE!

Then to take it to next level, throw in Elon Musk as special envoy between the two.

I actually fear Trump more than the Tories and I personally don't believe Labour are going to be the massive change people thing that they are going to be; Starmer is too weak and indecisive and frankly I think the UK financially feels like its in a worse state than even 2010 which makes things even harder.

I just hope Trump gets blocked from standing; although I suspect that might kick up all kinds of civil unrest among his MAGA disciples.

I actually agree.
Tories/Labour I doubt for us plebs much will be different.

But trump could rock the world.

Definitely option a

I don't think either government in this country will make much difference to anything. They are all ****.

Trump however, is a massive danger to western/NATO power and cooperation. Something which keeps us all very much safer every night ..

I blame Brexit personally.
