Chopsticks

the hardest thing to pick up imo is chinese mushrooms. they are slippery as hell. As for dumplings, you just get used to it, although little kids tend to use spoons.

there are also loads of rice variaties. Scented, glutonus, broken etc.... Basmati rice is not easy to eat with chopsticks. Chinese rice is only washed lightly and then cooked, hence it's stickiness. The Chinese do have strict table manners. Do not stick your fi di ( chopsticks) into your rice. This resembles the burning of insence to commemorate the dead. Elbows off the table at all times. Never fill your tea first, eldest to youngest then you. Sometimes there are two sets of fi di. One for you to use to eat with, the other to pick up food and place in your bowl, but if you're with family this doesn't normally apply. Oh, and always fight for the bill :D

I find it easier to use chopsticks to eat oriental food than a fork/knife/spoon (well except soup obviously ;) ). Though I have been using them since I was 4 years old. As for chopsticks and ease of use for me personally Korean>Chinese>Japanese. I have no problems picking up single grains of rice and I don't lift the bowl to my face - no particular reason why, I just don't need to. Think I might have to treat myself to a lovely chinese meal at New Year yum.

EDIT: I like to cook with chopsticks too, but I just use bamboo ones for that.
