Christian Bale - Impressive!

Hes always been a pretty big lad anyway, when putting muscle back on after dieting it down is always easier that trying to build it up from scratch. Think it's known as muscle memory :)

If mean gear then I doubt it, supplements most certainly.

Perfectly possible to gain that much weight if you start off 100lbs below your ideal weight. Especially when you consider he would have had some of the finest personal trainers and nutrition experts helping him and working out his diet and routine, etc :)

Yeah, he doesn't strike me as someone who would use gear as he seems very disciplined with his acting and his workouts. God, what I would give to have the personal trainers and nutrition experts that these actors get and see what I could achieve. :)

I really liked this wikipedia comment about his weight:

"With the help of a personal trainer, Bale succeeded in meeting the deadline, gaining exactly one hundred pounds in six months. He then worked toward converting most of it into muscle."

lol :D

He was in a film called Waiting... the year after that and was a lot smaller again too!

Funnily enough, he said losing the weight made him feel calm and helped with depression he was suffering from, while putting on the weight was horrific.

To get to 120lbs, he ate an apple, a can of tuna and smoked a ciggarette a day. He said on the extra's of batman begins that he just stuffed his face and lifted heavy weights to get bigger, then he cut some fat. He obviously has great determination, but he said consuming so much food made him feel ill. He was so weak after the machinist he couldn't do one press up.

I believe he also drank Whisky to take away the hunger pains. In an interview in Empire magazine he said he used to go for a meal with his girlfriend and whilst she had her starter/main/desert he used to just have a few glasses of whisky to take the edge off the hunger!

You're thinking of Ryan Reynolds, used to be in Two guys a girl and a pizza place years ago, was in Amytiville horror too. He had a very impressive physique in Blade 3, and I think he's a good actor too :)

With Christian Bale in my eyes the man's a legend. I say more of his kind and less moaning and winging actors/actresses that think they have life hard. He's dedicated, he's professional, and he's a very good actor.

120lbs  And I thought I used to be skinny!

Though to gain 100lbs I would seriously think he has taken something illegal...

He was WELL below his natural bodyweight in the the first photo, so much of the weight would in fact be returning to his normal and healthy weight.

I think he managed to put on about 20 pounds of lean muscle mass on top of his usual weight, which was mostly lean mass anyway.

He is obviously very dedicated and as someone else said, probably has quite good genetics to start with. Just a very impressive transformation in 7 months.

20lbs is still very impressive, I wouldn't mind that at all :O

it is impressive but remember these guys have access to professional trainers and dietitians etc

still impressive don't want to take anything away from the guy

Quick question, when these guys are cutting are they doing much excercise to speed up the process? I can't imagine you'd have much energy to do anything eating so little food

He is big in Batman but he looks much better in Equilibrium. Every part of his body was defined and full of muscle; talk about dedication!

Harsh Times is a good film bit sad though!

Whats that..? 14.5 stone? Is he quite tall? My boss used to be a professional lifter and still has almost the same physique, he just did some cutting for a bit. He's massive, bigger than Bale with less fat than a slice of lettuce, but still only 14 stone or so, mind you he must only be 5' 8.
