Chrome gone nuts!

So I started my PC this moring, opened Chrome and the 15 odd tabe I'd had open reopen and then it very quickjly becomes unresponsive. Check task mamager and its eating ram at a prolific rate. If I just leave it it climbs past 20gb and beyond. Cleared cache, rebooted, even uninstalled and reinstalled and it just does the same thing every time. I've not installed anything in the last few days or downloaded anything. Have run Avast and its found nothing. Never run into this problem with Chrome before. Ideas?

I'd check what permissions that addon needed, potential it was doing something else in the background causing that many instances to run.

It had been installed for a few months and I'd never noticed any issues with it or Chrome before this morning. Now its gone memory usage is back to 1.5gb with 12 tabs open.

I'm sure chrome has an instance for every extension you have installed.
20 extensions installed then 20 additional instances appear in your task manager.
Some are memory hoggers/leakers.
