So, everyone keeps saying how poo citilink are. Well I missed a parcel the other day and phoned them up. What did they do? They put it on a van and sent it out to me that evening!

Very impressed by that. Was not expecting it and would just like to let you know - they aren't all that bad - credit where credit is due.

I remember a while ago I ordered a monitor from OcUK. The delivery driver didn't even attempt a delivery. Just drove straight past my house

Phoned up, and a lady (rather hot too) from the customer service dpt dropped it off personally on the way home from work. So that was rather awesome of them, since then I can't really fault them

I hate citylink. I woke up at 8am the other day as the door bell rang, gits delivered my parcels really early. :p

The quoted delivery time was 9.30am - 5.30pm and they turned up at just after 8am, was well impressed. :D

Never had a proper problem with citylink though. :)

I've had many problems with citylink as a sender and recipient. They are however, probably no worse than your average courier company to be honest.

Citylink have always been super mega fantabulous for me.

Where ever in the country they have been delivering stuff to me. :)

I think it depends on your location. Where I live I've never had any problems (apart from me oversleeping and missing their call)

You've nailed it there I think. Individual depots vary widely in their efficiency- this is true of nearly all courier companies I think. I use businesspost a lot and Manchester depot is fine but some of them I just have problems with time after time when parcels pass thru that depot.

Thing is, all my dealings with them have been great.

Back home I've never had a problem, and here I've never had a problem either, and all my deliveries are by citylink. :)

Did you invite her in to see how it looked from your bed?

The Thing about couriers is that you only hear the bad parts, (with this exception) and the trueth is that it depends on who the driver is.

I never had a problem with them back home, my driver was a legend, if I wasn't in he'd put his mobile number on the card and he'd make a detour from the rest of his route to come back to drop the package off.

It's true you only hear the bad stuff and citylink are one of the biggest carriers of computer bits/electronics because they prefer the smaller stuff. On the otherhand some of the goings on by the couriers in this country are criminal, literally. I've seen it all, maltreatment of parcels, theft of parcels, not attempting delivery, misrouting parcels to the wrong end of the country, inputting details incorrectly to the system so that the driver delivers to the wrong house number, allsorts. I know mistakes happen and nobody is perfect but some of these errors are just not fogivable and could easily be avoided.

It is really hard trying to explain to a customer who has paid for in his eyes a "next day courier service" and taken the day off work to wait for his equipment that there is nothing you can do when it gets to 5pm and nothing has arrived. I always try to give my customers the tracking number and encourage them to ring their local depot up if the parcel has not arrived by 1pm. Then usually the depot will give the driver a kick up the bum and make him deliver it.

my deliveries from city link are delivered between 8-8:30am on the day of delivery.

It helps that I am 1/2 a mile from them.

Probably a van nearby doing an evening run for something anyway so would be easy enough to chuck another parcel on it.

Quite probably.
I suspect if the package gets back early enough to the depot, and they have another driver going out near where it's due to be delivered, they can/will (depending on depot) try and make the delivery then if they know someone will definitely be in.

I've rarely had a problem with any of the couriers around here, and one of the City Link drivers who delivers to our address on a regular basis has in the past delayed delivering to our house after seeing me in the town, to allow me time to get home (he also deliveres to a couple of the high street stores).
