City Link

I get a lot of stuff from City Link and without exception they have always been good.
When I see that they are the delivery service used by an online retailer then I am more inclined to use that retailer.

To make it worse, today they called to say their delivering again on Friday, and due to the person on my end of the phone not being me or too aware of the history of the delivery, just immediatley said OK. Even so, City Link already knew we are NOT IN ON WORKING DAYS, so why do they keep asking when weve told them twice now. We now cant get through to their phone, this really is taking the Mick.

Well the above isn't CityLink's fault!

Someone in the depot ops room will be given a list of failed deliveries and be told to try and get them arranged - it may well be a different person from one day to the next. So if someone at your end is dense enough to tell them you'll be home when you won't then you can't blame CityLink for that.

Absolutley. Although i dont appreciate how you put that. and if someones told on tuesday just dont bother to deliver it anymore we WILL come. Then why is the person at city link we told this information to 'so dense' that she can't pass a message on and stop waisting her drivers and call centre workers time.

P.S first bit of good news to come through since the start of this ightmare, we got through to them, we will collect the parcel from the depot ourselves tomorrow.

City Link service = >£0 as we spend money on petrol. nevermind £7 lol.

I'm lucky as the service from City Link, Amtrak and FedEx are all very good. I work and live in the same town, which is handy as we get daily deliveries at work, so get to know the couriers well :)

In my experience, all delivery services suck, but City Link suck the least. Although the best for depot locations seems to be Royal Mail.

Trick is to be nice to your delivery driver, ours will leave stuff outside the house in safe spot now. :)

so you asked for something to be delivered to your house when you knew you wouldn't be in?

i bet you didn't even ask your neighbours if they would sign for it, did you?

good luck getting your headphones.

Im sorry, but I've had to delete my reply to you as I can't believe you truley think City Link is to blame for your own ineptitude.

Im am not the worlds biggest city link fan, but even I have to agree with everyone here about what you have done is a bit dull. AFAIK, none of the delivery companies I have tried out leave parcels with the neighbours except by prior arrangement.

If I get something from City Link and get a card through the door, I just ring them up, get them to put it to one side and tell them I will be down in an hour to collect it in person. I have never had a problem doing this.

My local CityLink depot (in Barking) is terrible. It does put me off buying from companies who use them because I know it'll be at least the second (and usually third) attempt before they actually successfully deliver the goods.

At least they don't have a habit of stealing goods though. Someone at Parcel Force 'lost' my Wii over Christmas.

If I can get an item sent via Royal Mail then I always take that option. Failing that, UPS or DHL.

I rate Citylink and Home Delivery Network on par with each other.

Both are good and have a depot not far from us. Whether I am ordering from ocuk or a competitor, they always seem to be here before 10am and that is not even paying for a priority delivery.

To the op: Tell your mum about this. She will understand more ;)

Erm im sorry? lol. I think you'll find shes the one who told them that people would be in on firday haha. And please please, PLEASE read all the posts. I never called for them to deliver on tuesday when we specifically wouldnt be in. I knew they would probably miss us, but no worries as my neighbours would have it if not theres the depot, but they kept talking to us making agreements, then packing it off to somewhere else immediatlety after the talk. Hope that finally fills you all in.

Your all accusing me of being simple yet seem too stupid yourself to understand my posts. I did say leave it there we'll be down, little did we know they decided to still send their guy off to go get arrested by the police, i mean god totally my fault there. Doofus.

Oh and BenM, we did make agreements with the neighbour...so i dunno where you got that from -.^.

I don't have an answer but citylink to me are the worse they make no effort to deliver to my house they claim that no one was in and they left a card when my dad works from home, mum is a house wife and my self and my sister used to be home a lot, now its a bit different but my mum and dad are always home, good because while I am at uni I can get orders sent home and get a train back to see them and collect the goods, but....

Citylink can't find our house and are awful at effort.

Most couriers are good most of the time.

All couriers are bad some of the time.

If anyone knows of a courier that is good all the time at a price our customers will be happy to pay all of the time please let me know.

Amen to that

I've worked for an on-line retailer (clothes Spie, so not a competitor :D) courier management team. Our job was just to chase missing parcels on behalf of customers, attend meetings with said courier companies to discuss contracts etc..

and i can hand on heart say just about every courier company is as bad as the rest. I've heard stories of parcels being left on doorstops in full view of main roads, parcels left out in the road, parcels being fraudulently signed for by the couriers, courier companies not bothering to attempt to deliver priority 24hour delivery packages etc..

the list goes on. I challenge you to name a courier company that nobody can say they've had a bad experience with ... with the caveat that they're not expensive. There are some great delivery services out there, but they charge the earth. And that sort of cost has to be passed onto the customer. And we all know how much customers whinge about delivery charges.

I don't have an answer but citylink to me are the worse .

I've dealt with probably 25 % of delivery companies in the UK. (currently about 9 companies, cant think theres more than 36 delivery companies in the UK) and trust me, there are people out there as bad if not worse than citylink.

Parcelfarce really do take the mick. The above mentioned incident with the 24hour delivery was a parcelforce delivery. Customer paid £10 for guarnateed next day delivery. Parcelforce themselves sell its as a 24 hour delivery. But the courier didnt have time, so just didnt even bother to attempt to deliver it. Net result, customer rings us furious why her parcel didnt arrive as was promised, we refund customer and take the bill for delivery. When prompted to explain why the delivery wasnt even attempted, the parcel tracking desk ( and we even have our own special one as a business customer) said the courier was probably too busy and didnt have time. Didnt have time ? WTF ? its a 24 hour delivery service. You dont decide to just not deliver it.

Just to offer some anecdotal evidence to balance this up, I've had nothing but positive experiences with CityLink. Everything has turned up on time, and if I haven't been in they've left a note for me to collect at their depot - which is located a couple of miles from my house.

It's got to the stage where whenever I order goods online, I kinda hope the courier is going to be CityLink, as I've had issues with every other delivery company. I've had stuff left outside the house, left at a neighbours house (even though I'd driven all the way to a depot having missed a barely legible number scrawled on the back of a card which was supposed to indicate a house number) and various other issues with packages going missing.

No such problems with CityLink.
