Civic EP3 Type R - Differences on 30th anni ?

What exactly is a Hondata? I've heard quite a bit about it but don't actually understand... is it just a new ECU? Why can't you just remap the existing one?

It's like writing on a non-writable CD, it just aint gonna happen:p You need an aftermarket ECU (or modified ECU like K-Pro) to flash to.

Mods - GruppeM induction kit is the daddy for the EP3
Exhaust - Stock system is good, get a decat if you know a friendly MOT tester
ECU - Kpro gives good gains but not gains that are worth the cost in my opinion.

Forgot to say, suspension goes a long way. The UK car doesn't have an LSD and suffers because of this, bracing the car and fitting coilovers should help out a bunch if you are a rather "spirited" driver.
Superlight flywheel can be added later but it can be costly to fit, best getting it done when the clutch needs replaced anyway.

Clutches depend on how you drive it, normally about 60k I'd say tho thats obviously not set in stone. cambelt will be about £400.

As for the torque thing, was that a joke or you being serious? They don't have a huge amount of torque since they are relativly small, NA engines, but the quoted engine torque figure doesn't really mean much. it revs very high, makes lots of power and has an awesome gearbox. All the lack of torque means if you have to work for the power, they aren't a lazy mans car.

Kpro is all people talk about when it comes to ECU mods on the owners forum.

If i had a spare £1000 i'd certainly have a kpro and back box. CAI makes the whole thing too noisy IMO

Having owned several cars I would say the torque seems practically non-existant on the CTR which is a shame. That said the engine is great, very tractable, handling is awesome even at stock (even despite LSD) and of course Hondas bulletproof reliability - I've never had a single problem with my 04 CTR and would recommend it without hesitation for anyone looking in the same market.

the gruppeM doesnt, it only adds noise in VTEC. Stuff like the AEM system add noise all the time and can be rather annoying.
Bestter to get KPro and Induction than Kpro + backbox if your after more power.

Basically as said above, the facts are:

1. GruppeM is the best CAI you can buy for the car bar none.
2. Kpro is the de facto "big boost" power wise (not cheap though relatively speaking)
3. The facelift has projector headlights but they're still halogens (not HID) and are pretty terrible.

I would want the GruppeM then... I really wouldn't want the noise all of the time, but when you hit VTEC you are obviously ragging it and that would be cool.

I am really struggling to decide whether Red or Nighthawk black is best?:D

black if you are going to wash it often enough. With the gruppeM it sounds like a chainsaw under VTEC, its awesome.

all this no torque is rubbish. mine used to pull well from 30mph in 6th gear.

dont think i ever saw over 250 miles to a tank of petrol. I was even down to sub 15mpg at one point, but i always drove it the way god intended :D

Go for Red and get your alloys powder coated white! It looks mint. I'm thinking about doing mine when the crap weather goes.

My Black CTR is dirty 80% of the time atm (due to the weather).
Can't wait till the summer so I can keep it clean all the time.

Satin Silver are the fastest ;)

Some people say the K-Pro is too expensive. However you get to lower the VTEC point, get better power and torque in the mid range, you can set a launch control, they allow you to flat shift. Also, even with breathing mods some people see up to 40 miles more per tank.

Still, £700 second hand plus another couple of hundred for mapping is a tall bill but I'll be going that route one day.

Kpro makes a big difference imo. It's better low down when needed and proven gains but the price is quite high.

Mine is totally standard now, I had ECU, Exhaust, Filter and if I am completely honest, I don't miss the mods.

Another filter to look at if you want don't want the noise is the ITG. I highly rate this filter.

red turns pink in a few years :(

I love the recaro seats in the special edition ones, they feel really similar to the ones in the ATR which are far better than the standard CTR ones imo.
