I used to love Co-op play with friends on AOE/AOE2, Red Alert and several other games. Not apples for apples but I dare say it'd be damn good fun, especially if you are outnumbered.

Yeah it's the ultimate time waster and although one of my favourite games, it's also the reason I uninstalled Civ III PTW about 2 years ago and haven't played it again since... the missus didn't appreciate me crawling into bed at 5am lol!The only bad side to civilization 4 is it will eat time away like it never existed.
Seriously before you know it 5 hours has passed, and you still are saying "one more turn"
Would appreciate someone pointing out the main differences for the addons
Like I just said I haven't played any Civ IV... always difficult when buying a game with lots of addons knowing where to start and if to bother with the vanilla first?

I never played the other Civ games or vanilla Civ IV but am loving Beyond the Sword - have played a number of extended games with mates and a load of AI players and it really is so good ... but the second you start the time just vanishes!!

Ahhhh 'just 1 more turn' lol, I've been saying that since Civ1 the first ever pc game I played.
Just to repeat what has already been said this game is Turn based and you can't compare it to the AOE series or any of the other real time games.
It does have striking similarities with the campaign section of the total war games but there are more differences than similarities and the AI in the Total war series is useless, not so with Civ.
The Civ 4 addons give a load of extras mainly units, leaders and buildings, to much for me to mention so look Here
Also for those that can't get on with the Vanilla Total war games check out some of the great overhaul mods that are out there EB1 being my favourite for the Rome version

Just bought the pack off steam from the above link for £26 I have the Xbox360 version and I must say the PC is very impressive and much better Loving the beyond the sword expansion pack, had a few games on MP today and it was good, anybody in here still play the game fancy getting a MP game setup?

Civ 4 on its own is fine, you don't need the add-ons but once you've played with the add-ons you'll not go back to vanilla.
Well I am used to the Xbox version and its so different so am still learning the game on the PC but I am okay so yeah should be interesting
Which one are we playing just the normal Civ IV?
