Civilization IV: Beyond The Sword Demo

I really loved this game but does anyone else feel that the endgame is a let down compared to the previous bits i.e. knock down walls + invade, rinse repeat

i've not really seen much about this expansion, can anyone give me a potted summary of what's being added? (i can't get on those games sites at work - dam firewall)

Not much info has been released

Just played it for about 20 minutes

Your cities arn't cites anymore, they are solar systems

Your settlers are now Colony ships, you fly the ships to solar system suns and build a 'city'

Get posh things like Planetary Defenses

Space radation

Black holes

Supernovas

Looks good :p

I've been following this for a while. For me Civ 4 is one of THE best PC games along with Mafia and Deus Ex. This is the biggest Civ 4 expansion and includes new wonders, techs, a custom built spaceship (for the space race), new civs, new units (mostly late game ones), a new religious order (an early game EU), Companys, Espionage and new improved graphics! It also includes some great campaigns with new interfaces and graphics as well as some of the most popular TC's out there made by the fan community. The AI has also being made considerably smarter and more realistic like a human player... you may need to now turn the difficulty down! It also doesn't receive the large bonus's it use to on higher difficulty's.

On a nostalgic note this is most probably my last PC game for quite sometime, so it better be good!

Bit confused about the space section of the game. Is that part of the normal game once you get into space you colonize space? Or is a like a mod/campaigns that’s just starts in space? Will be great if you can start in the stone age and end up all over space.

Its one of about 8 different scenarios. A couple of the new Sci-Fi ones are games in their own right.

In the normal game the only space related thing is the end game space race where you can now custom build your own space ship, so the first space ship launched might not necessarily make it to Alpha Centauri first.

so do I need buy Civ IV before I get this? Does this add-to and enhance Civ IV or should I play that separately before installing Beyond The Sword?

I would imagine that you would require Civ4.

You need Civ 4 and the addon pack enhance's Civ4. There is another addon pack its worth getting warlords as well as it works alongside this one.

All the content in Warlords is included with Beyond The Sword with the exception of the Warlords scenarios (that I've never touched anyway).

Mine arrived yesterday, didn't have chance to play last night though. Got the manual with me to read at work though :p. Bit pointless releasing a single scenario demo when the game's already out, or nearly so.

Just spent the last 4hours playing and zomg, its more addictive than ever :( goodbye sleep, hello 4am!

Is this Demo standalone? I love Civ1-3 but haven't got Civ4 yet due to being worried about how much time I can spend on it.
