Civilization IV: Beyond The Sword Demo

I loved civ games, could never get enough of civ 1&2, however with civ3&4 the moves would just take too long making the whole game take ages.

^What ?

civ4 is probably the fastest out of them all

Yes i have played civ1,2,3 and expansions

Anybody else only able to play 100 turns of Final Frontier?

Not really found it fun because its over before you really get anywhere

Seems really good so far. When the first wonder movie came on it crashed to desktop however.

I really like the idea of introducing the future techs to the epic game as well, should be a little like playing SMAC. :)

civilization is probly the only game i would buy with out any reviews or demos hence why theres a copy on my pc now.

I'd agree with that. Sid and the gang rarely seem to get things wrong. Now if only they would do Sid Meier's Colonization II before the next Civ, I would be very happy.

Alpha Centauri was superb. I used to love the hatred between the factions. The leaders had more personality than any that have appeared in the Civ games.

Finished my first game this afternoon, just a normal/small game and it was far too easy, I normally win on Prince in Warlords, so I went back to Noble expecting more of a challenge with the better AI. Rushed my nearest neighbours (not an archer in sight), massively out-teched everyone else and meandered aimlessly up the tech tree, built the Apostolic Palace wonder and dominated its votes to win a diplomatic victory before 1000AD - the votes are pretty easy to exploit :(. I'll have to try a longer, harder (ooo er) game so I can get a feel for espionage/corporations etc.

I'm playing the full game, sorry :o. Buy it if you haven't got it, masses of content for the money :).

Ahhh hahaha cheers duke

I love Civ, the only thing that always disappoints is the tech is pretty much only up to current day. So this sounds better.

I still wish they'd do something like Call to Power 2 though and allow you to build underwater cities and really go into the future. C2P2 had so much future tech it was brilliant and it really flowed too, you could easily believe the progression was real.

Shame the PING button has been removed in this latest expansion. Now me and snowdog cant ping at interesting places like future city spots etc.

Just installed the demo and fired it up. I have no idea what's going on really. Would it be a better idea to try out one of the earlier versions?
