Civilization V

You aren't one of those people who run with automated workers as well, are you?
It is generally a good idea to start off with automated workers/missionaries/executives in your first few weeks of civ. Automate everything you can and learn to play, then slowly start taking on more tasks yourself until you're managing everything.

Learning the whole game in one big gulp can be a bit daunting and I'm sure a lot of new players quit trying because of the byzantine task of learning all of the mechanics :)

Just bought Civ4 and have been playing on my mac mini downstairs on the TV.. got to love steam :D

At this rate Civ5 will be purchased without mastering Civ4!

The only thing I demand from Civ 5 is to have the Elvis impersonator from Civ II return as one of my advisers.

civ iv was classic was gutted they didn't get Leonard Nimoy to do the voices in all the expansions! hope they get some one good to do quotes this time.

"I got all pig iron"

One of the few things I didn't like about Civ 4 (apart from the appalling random map generator) was Spock's voice-over work. It just didn't sound that good to me.

The Shatner would have been my choice. :D

Or perhaps Patrick Stewart...

I find the recommended use of a quad core interesting.

Spocks voice-overs made that game! Though patrick stewart for civ 5 would be cool :)

Can only imagine how hilarious shatners would be.

There are some quotes with Nimoy's voice that sound perfectly sensible but then you imagine it with the **** voicing it- and it just goes wrong.

"You should hammer your iron when it is glowing.. *pause* hot."

Yeah.. not the same, is it? :p

Wow system requirements are quite steep, no more playing this on a uni lappy during boredom then :(.

No problem on a normal pc though.

It's not like you need a super framerate for the game. I assume you'll need a SM 3.0 gfx card and a decent enough processor going by their specs. I wouldn't be surprised to see people running the game with lower specs then their minimum states.

Aye but with a 2.2ghz amd x2 and ati x1150 or a c2d 2ghz and intel integrated, it'll be though playing it on a 1-2 year old 15'' regular laptop.

I'll probably need to buy a new lappy with at least something like 9600m GT.
