Claiming back on my credit card for a corner sofa

Mother wanted to buy something for us, so we looked we found then reported back, then gift card codes were given. (8x £500)
But just had a chat with the other half and we have come up with a plan to still have this corner sofa. Trying to claim back on the credit card was the easy option.
We are 100% happy with the item it's just access that is the problem.

That's how it works. The credit card company is jointly liable for the full amount even if only a small part was actually paid on the credit card.
If the company had failed to deliver the sofa and refused to refund him, for example, he could have claimed the full amount back from the credit card.

As long as you've put a minimum amount (£100 rings a bell) on the CC.
Although a bit late now, she'd have probably been better off buying a prepaid visa. That way it's not directly linked to a single shop.
I hate to be that guy but why didnt she just give you the cash and not 8x£500 gift cards which are horribly limiting. The only real reason anyone buys that much on giftcards is to then claim the giftcard purchases were fraud lol
