Clarkson's Farm

Countryfile may once have been a decent show but that was a long time ago. Nowadays it’s pretentious twaddle presented by folk that know less about farming than Clarkson

Clearly you don’t watch it because that objectively untrue.

The farming elements are usually led by Adam Henson and Matt Baker who are both generational farmers.

Both will have known more about farming by the time they could tie their own shoe laces than Clarkson will ever know.

How many people watch countryfile though? You can't argue that Clarkson has brought it to a much much larger and more diverse audience even if he's not always as factual

As Wilman said, Clarksons biggest strength is his ability to communicate with people and get whatever message he’s trying to get over, in a way that is engaging.

Yes, completely agree there. He has bought an audience/demographic to the topic which didn’t previously exist.

Ironically, countryfile appears to have a bigger audience. According to Google AI, country file does a sustained 5-7m per episode.

Whereas Clarkson’s farm draws 4-5m watchers per episode.

Edit: I don’t have anything on demographics, there will be some overlap but I wouldn’t expect it to be the majority.

Clearly you don’t know what I watch. Adam Henson especially is a complete muppet who is an embarrassment. Just because you’ve inherited a farm doesn’t mean to say you know anything about farming. Perfect example was recently at the Hay Festival when Muppet Henson claimed there is no battery hen farming the UK. The man is an arse

You claimed Clarkson knows more about farming than Henson (and Baker), that obviously isn’t true.

Edit: he is also correct because it was banned in 2012. That doesn’t mean hens aren’t caged if that’s what you mean. He is still correct to say we don’t have battery hens in the UK, because we don’t.

Countryfile has entered the chat.

Clarkson covered nothing that countryfile hasn’t for decades at this point. No it’s not the same kind of show but covers far more and covers the issues in far more detail using a journalistic approach rather than the ‘world as Jeremy sees it’.

Clarkson farm isn’t really representative and has a huge amount of non-farming content. The last series was basically him pub shopping.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a good show and very funny, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. It’s not knighthood worthy.

AI says " prominent farming figures, argue it achieved more for public awareness and industry advocacy in one season than decades of the BBC's gentler, mainstream Countryfile "

Lol gotta love AI`s answers.

Yep, certain harvests are being decimated by this heat and dry spell.

A friend of ours rents out a lot of land to a big potato grower who have just checked and the potatoes aren't much bigger than marbles. So they've said they aren't even going to bother harvesting them since they are even too small for the machine to pick up and they'll just drag over the field and leave them in the ground. That's after they've paid the 10's of thousands in land rent and the costs of the initial planting and spraying etc.

The problem is, our friend uses the field for winter wheat and if they do that he won't be able to plant his crop this autumn with the tates still in the ground and then they'll seed and grow up next year interfering with whatever is planted next year. This weather is causing loads of issues, more than just the direct ones you realise.
