Has anyone used the bottled cleaning stuff made by Arctic yet?.....

I brought some a while ago, think it was £6 or so.

And although there is lots of household things you use for cleaning i cannot tell you guys how much you're missing out.

Its around £6 and will clean loads, and i mean plenty of HSF, cpu's, gpu's, and what not before it runs out, it works absolutely brilliant, just follow the instructions and you have a perfect surface for your compound.

Its like the "shall i use the bog standard pad or arctic" question.

Until you try it, you won't appreciate how effective it is.

Please share opinions, disagree if you will, i don't mind.... its a forum after all ;)

You didnt mention if its any good, but i think i can safely assume your comment means it works well for you.... ;)

I'll be interested to hear what everyone has to say though, its really not that expensive to buy considering how long it lasts.

It was the only cleaning compound on ocuk at the time (2 years ago). Yes, it does work well, but when the bottle runs out I'll look into this Arctic cooling stuff you mentioned.

I use a can of carburetter cleaner form halfords - huge aerosol can for around the same price as one of those little bottles - works a treat

I use the ArctiClean Kit and seems to give a good job, it certainly does a better job then the dry kitchen roll I was using before. Since it only takes a single drop from each bottle to do the job I'm expecting it to last ages!

I am contemplating using meths and kitchen roll to remove the stock thermal compound for my AMD x2 3800 [sorry about the other thread I started!]. Don't really want to wait a couple of days ordering a special kit. Might send my brother around to Halfords in the morning to buy some carbereteur cleaner fluid!!!

not sure meths does it. I can vouch for the carb cleaner. It is a mixture of xylene and methanol and the brand i used is called wynn's fuel injection and carb cleaner.

I use IPA. picked up a big bottle of it for about £4 incl postage from a famous auction site.

Wroks a treat, combined with kitchen roll.

I'd have to wonder what sort (if much) chemical residue hosue hold items or car related fluids leave behind.

Arctic states using other cleaners or compounds can leave residue in the valleys of the cpu, wether the effect is significent or not is something else, but i feel safer using a product designed for the job.

They would say that cos they want you to buy their product.
Isopropyl Alcohol is £9.99 for a 1 litre spray can

I would also recommend Isopropyl Alcohol about £5 per 500ml from your local chemist....along with cotton pads / buds...I find kitchen roll is a little too harsh / rough. IPA evaporates on contact = no residue. Using meths and spirits is dangerous and I'm sure these leave stuff behind....

Please everyone take care using this stuff as they are all highly flammable

I still have and use Akasa TIM cleaner but i sue that to lift off their Shim-Etsu pads...

be carefull using cotton wool as it may leave small fibres behind, try and get some lint free cloth, it can be ordered from the the 'Banner' catalogue if you work in an office.

Yeah too right they vary from each supermarket...most have been fine a couple of wipes then turn over :D

Where's that, somewhere in "Middle Earth"? :p

Nail polish remover amongst other things here, and never forget water - getting rid of residues on the die is what it does best...
However, with an IHS there isn't really much that is unsuitable...

what A.S state on their website is balls. isopropyl is the stuff. Hell i use methylated spirit to clean stuff. never had any problems.
