Cleaning Engine Bay/Block

Should have my block out soon so can give the engine bay a quick once over, im thinking use GUNK or similar degreasant in oily spots and then just car shampoo and water to clean most of the crud off.

Then just Gunk or something on a rag to wipe over the block to get most of the crud off it?

Anything else useful i could use/advice (apart from dont drop the block on my toes! )

Gunk is probably best, spray it on liberally and let it soak, then agitate and clean off.

Gunk and for tricky bits carb or brake cleaner.

Actually, i'd recommed Swarfega Gel. Being a gel you can just leave it on and it will soak in. T'will do a grand job tbh.

Is "Simple Green" sold in this country?

It's non-toxic and works wonders for this kind of thing.
