Cleaning Inside Of Windscreen?

Cant beat the simple window cleaners and newspaper imo, cant see what an expensive cleaner will do above and beyond on a surface like glass.

Definitely no smoking or vaping - value our health too much.

I have read the theory about plastic residue elsewhere, could be something in that - also aircon as my old Corsa suffered from the same problem, you do tend to be constantly running it this time of year and in winter to dry the warm air.

Anyhow I'll grab something like Fastglass and a decent microfibre cloth and have a go with that. also good point about working a small section at a time. in this heat, normal glass cleaner is evaporating almost as soon as it hits the screen.

Thanks for all the responses.

Every night your car gets cold, condensations settles and dust and pollution out of the air dries on the screen, it's not rocket science how it gets there.

Newspaper is way better than microfibre imho.

Last summer it took me about 4 goes to get the inside of my screen properly clean. Each time I'd do it after work, parked in the shade, and it'd look fantastic afterwards. The following morning whilst driving towards the sun, it looked so awfully streaky that I wanted to kick the windscreen out like some sort of 1980s action movie star.

I think the key is to use a perfectly clean cloth and a decent amount of cleaner. Once you've gone over it thoroughly, flip the cloth to the clean dry side and go over it thoroughly again.

Mine's filthy again now, and I'm slowly working up enough arsed.

Never had this problem, not sure what you do to yours lol

Every car I've ever owned (and that's quite a few) has had a windscreen that gets mucky on the inside, so I think the question is more "what are you doing with yours to not suffer the issue?" :p

Only drive it 8k miles a year, and I am into car detailing, so it gets cleaned if it needs doing or not :p

OP might need a pollen/cabin filter change

I don't smoke or vape. I'm not sure "sticky" is the right word, just a greyish haze that accumilates over time. Cleaned with the wrong products/method this turns into a sun-ray defracting mess.
i have this exact same problem, drives me nuts. In my old car i could go months, if not years without cleaning the inside of my screen, my new car im pretty much buffing off this haze/film every 2-3 weeks. :(

I've always wiped my screen first with a barely damp microfibre cloth (or chamois leather back in the days before MF!). That gets the majority off then I use a cleaner like fast glass on a new or freshly washed MF.

Decades ago in my car valet days (before everyone started calling simple cleaning "detailing"), it was hot water on a chamois and buffed dry with paper towel, no cleaners used.

Auto Glym Glass Polish, apply with a microfibre and remove with paper towel. I've spent a silly amount over the years on cleaning stuff and nothing is yet to touch AGGP for interior windows, it lifts traffic film that gets pumped through your car vents in a single pass and one bottle will last you years unlike months with normal window cleaners. 100% smear free finish.
