I shift as much as possible using kitchen towel (bog roll isn't strong enough ) then clean up any residue using liquid lighter fuel on a lint-free cloth. Lighter fuel is one of the best degreasers around so it's always useful to have a can in stock.
I hear that's impossible. Some microscopic amount remains on both the CPU & heatsink. Surprisingly that's good because it covers tiny (imperfection) ridges on both surfaces
Vouch for IPA. Makes light work of the compound & doesn't leave any unwanted materials if used with the right cloth.
