'Clicking' joints

My ankles, knees, wrists, elbows and shoulders do this like a boss! (not all at once thankfully, that would be horrible).

Been told it is a build up of nitrogen in the joints and to enjoy it as it is not a danger to my health at all :)

Very rarely when i do a big wide yawn, i will get a click from the middle of my sternum on the stretch, and that damn joint it meant to be fused totally by my age, I really have never understood that click.

Mine does this too. Pretty much all of my joints click, one of the worst is my hips, it doesn't feel right at all when they do it.

i remember someone telling me it would cause arthritis in later life but i believe this is bs.

There was a guy who clicked the joints on his right hand, but never his left, for his whole life. Made no difference to him at all.

Cant seem to find the article though :(

I don't know why they click but all I do know is that when they click the feeling is amazing.

Neck click especially in the mornings = Feels good man.
Then, extend your arms and raise fists with elbows folded and then sharply twist your entire body left/=right so your spine clicks.

That feels even better.

You are probably thinking of Donald Unger who cracked the knuckles of his left hand for 50 years but didn't purposely crack the knuckles on his right hand - article here. It's interesting but the data set is too small to be meaningful of course and it would also depend on whether arthritis is a condition that you can have a predisposition for i.e. is it something that your actions will have either no or little impact on?

My neck quite often clicks and it doesn't bother me much but it's not a particularly nice sound to hear for other people, my left ankle also clicks when I rotate it now and I'm almost sure it didn't used to.

My ankles click when I first start a training session, so I know include making them click in my warm up.

Most schools of thought say it doesn't do anything and if it happens involuntarily, theres not much you can do about it anyway.

I can 'crack' my knuckles often

I do have a clicking left knee and hip. I can hear my knee clicking with every row when im at the gym

My back and sternum sometime crack when I do a big yawnstretch.
My fingers and neck I crack constantly, feels sooooo good.

The joints in both my hands click simply by bending my fingers or thumbs - not forcing them, literally just flexing them - i would have to stop using my hands to prevent the clicking :o I did click them forcefully when i was young though - started in junior school and the first times were a bit painful, had to pull my fingers out their sockets as it were - dunno why...

My sternum and back also click if i stretch, and i can do my toes.

The most annoying one though is clearly down to an injury - my left ankle clicks loudly if i rotate it and i can repeat it ad infinitum. Only started doing it after i twisted it during training one evening, and hasn't stopped since...

One thing that has always struck me, is that i would be no good trying to sneak up on people (never really wanted to be in the army, but can imagine i would draw a lot of attention on some sneaky night op as my ankles both click with every step going up hill - different click from rotating my ankle!)

I'm relieved to hear that there's no known link to arthritus, or i would end up in a bodycast i think ... :(
