Clio RSI

It doesnt get the name RSI from anywhere you know! Repetitive Strain Injury from stirring the gear stick to get it to go anywhere.

Apart from that i'm pretty sure they are good motors. Some Clio enthusiasts will set you right. Personally, small French things also resemble turd to me.....(no offence).

Any ideas how much you want to spend on an RSi. A top notch rsi isnt much less than a MK1 172.

You will probably double that in repair bills unless your lucky and get a minter for that sort of cash. They were designed to be driven hard and most of them have. I have seen a few williams going reasonably as well recenty.
 
Get a 16v ;)

The RSI is a good motor, shouldnt have trouble finding a nice one for £1000, but they arent the most common of models.

Dont goto ClioSport they are a bunch of ****. Try www.renaultsportsclub.com, www.williamclio.co.uk, www.retro-renault.co.uk

They all know their stuff about Mk1's unlike cliosport who kiss their Mk2's to bed everynight.

They wont cost too much to maintain, parts are easy to find and the RSI has a tough engine in it, the 16v tend to go wrong a lot more than your average RSI would.
 
Ive got a 16v and its had no end of problems, my advice if you are going to get a 16v is just buy one and plan on keeping it for a few months and driving it hard! because they are good fun, but are very problematic cars. I now find my self having to pay loads of big repair bills but i still dont want to sell it! :(

Had one - worst car EVER :(
Most expensive car Ive owned - apart from the toy - and found it VERY underpowered, and constantly having to go back to the garage, the 16v is the one to go for :D

Lol *hold hand up*, having owned my since December 2005, i bought it of ebay for £700, and have since spent around £1500 on it getting it right and will need about another £500 to get it near perfect.

However the car is great and i have no plans to sell it for a long time, infact ill probably run it into the ground but that wont be just yet.
 
As I said to get a goodun will be a money pit. Worth paying as little as possible on a clio and expect to pay out more to get it to a good standard or paying nore to get a goodun in the first place.

Williams insurance for the loose lol! 16v's are only group 11 :).
The thing is with mine, is that im going to uni in september and will probably have to leave it at home. This is bad because atm there is no rust on the whole car, body work is imaculate (very very rare with these cars). So i'd imagen the car would just rot away and my mum will ruin the gearbox lol!
 
Ive got 2 slightly rusty arches (only just starting), and a bit of rot in the pillar where a scratch has been left untreated, £350 at a local bodyshop to weld new arches in and the bit in the pillar in and weld it.
