Clive Owen Is A Terrible Actor

Hang on...You watched a Bourne film and chose to pick on Clive Owen instead of Matt **** FACE Damon?!

*n
I hated Matt Damon too, but that wouldn't have fitted with the topic as well. ;) They both suck, it's just that Clive Owen has ruined more movies for me than Matt Damon has. :(

Watch 'I'll sleep when im dead', great gangster flick writen by the same guy who wrote Get Carter. You may change your mind.

One mans meat is another mans murder, it's all subjective :D
Unfortunately, I don't think watching one film he acts well in would change the fact that he utterly ruined four others. :(

Yeah, it would be terrible for an actor to come across as somewhat cold, wooden and monotonous, as there are no people in real life who are somewhat cold, wooden and monotonous, and thus having such a person in a film completely spoils it.

Hi guys,

Am I the only one?

No, you are certainly not. I've had these arguments with my friends after watching pretty much the same bunch of films you've mentioned. He has one facial expression and not a lot more - his voice is about as dull as his face too.

Sin - worst character and story in the film by far
King Arthur - are you being serious Clive? Did you really think we'd believe you were a credible King Arthur portrayal? I was laughing at how **** he was during that.
Closer - that same face... again...
Bourne Identity - same face, same character, same everything. I think that's why he gets to me - no matter what he does he is the same.

Most boring man alive imo.

I wouldn't say he's a bad actor at all.

The first time I really noticed him was in the short films by BMW called "The Hire". I thought he was quite good in those.

Can't really comment on King Arthur or Sin City because I haven't seen them.
Closer was a poor film overall, and Natalie Portman getting her kit off was the only real reason anyone watching it.

He doesn't really have the presence and charisma of a big lead actor, but he definately deserves some reasonable roles.

personally if were going to complain about actors i would go for kurt russell, that guy couldn't act his way out of a paper bag

You better be glad Snake Plissken doesn't post here :p :D

Clive Owen didn't get to me in Bourne Identity, but I distinctly remember his half-arsed (imo) role in Sin City. It bored me to the extent of hurriedly wanting the story to switch.

If the characters he plays were cold, wooden and monotonous then I wouldn't mind, but somehow I don't think that King Arthur spoke like he was reading a script off the back of a Cornflakes box.

Seconded.

I like him - he's an attractive man and, I thought, suited the role of King Arthur well. How else could he play it?

The guy from the Cillit Bang advert has more acting talent in his little finger than Clive Owen does in his entire body, and I hope they end up switching jobs.

Barry Scott haha, i have to say i do agree slightly

I think hes played his roles quite well, tbh he normally plays neanderthols(sp) which I for one think he does quite well :o

He was quite good in Inside Man I thought.
Yeh he was ok in that. The thing that gets me about him, is his voice. Not the sound of it so much, but the almost complete lack of tone and emotion for the character he plays (in any of his films).
