During British Summer Time (BST), civil time in the United Kingdom is advanced one hour forward of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), so that evenings have more daylight and mornings have less.[1][2]

Might sound like a plonker here, but wouldn't we be in GMT! BST only applies in the Summer.
Well, they moan about dark mornings and darker nights.
There's no purpose to this at all now. Farmers have lights that can light a section of a football park.
At least with BST dependant on the kind of exceptional day/night, the sky is still navy blue from 11:30pm to 3am.
My sympathy to all those on nightshift.

Then I do not understand this at all. ???
I thought it was so kids didn't get run over walking to school, which none of them do now anyway. Walk, not get run over.![]()
Astro invite for us stargazers would be good![]()
Scope is at Loch Rannoch, no light pollution, where are you based?
North Cumbria, few hours drive.
I can do Loch Rannoch from Edinburgh in 2 hours, now that the A9 average speed cameras are active that's gotta change![]()
