I want to replace an Alienware R5 hard drive with a higher capacity one. I read that laptop makers don't provide a windows disc so they create a hidden partition that can restore windows. If I cloned the drive with Samsung cloning software will it replicate this partition?
If I had to restore Windows would I run in to any problems? Will windows play nice with a different hard drive or will I have to validate it somehow?

You won't need to worry about validation.
As above with something like macrium you should be able to clone the sys partition and the recovery partition over as one whole drive clone.

as mentioned above, macrium is what you need. Very easy to use and done pretty quickly. Just clone the old drive onto the new one, and then reformat the old one and start it new again
