On the way home from footie, was leaving my mate home. Down a country road doing 30mph knowing that there were tractors and such on the road.

Predictably I meet one just round a corner and pull into a driveway when one of the tyres of the tractor blows and he starts to veer off to the right. He was going much faster than he should have been and was headed straight for me head on so it was a bit of a squeaky bum moment. Luckily he gained some control of it and just missed me by a few inches of my wing mirror, pulling in 200 yards down the road where he was heading.

On the way back, you can see the marks on the road from the bare wheel.

So yeah, that was a nice little drive just over a year from passing my test. :p

I have to say, tractors and lorries on back roads **** me off more than a cyclist or motorcyclist ever could.

You don't gain quite as many points as R420/LA......whatever :p

I've never actually come across one on a single lane backroad, but see so many on the NSL country A roads.

Funny thing is, I met another earlier today. Again having to pull in to a driveway because he was bombing down the road on his mobile with his son beside him and a trailer on the back.

LOL. I shouldn't laugh, but I did. :(

close call then! i have had a wheel collaspe before in a tractor, person coming the other way looked a bit worried! But im sure i did as well.

I am on single lane backroads most days, harvest season their is always pressure to keep cracking, it does get annoying when you meet someone pratting about not getting out of the way!

Surprising there are not more accidents though, esp how some people drive their tractors (non of our drivers), Driving 15hrs a day, with no stops you would think would be a recipe for disater.

From the sound made from squirming or moving forward and back in one's seat while watching an exciting sporting event. Attributed to Sir Alex Ferguson, famed British football manager and former player

There is your problem, had you been watching where you were going instead of watching an exciting sporting event, you could have stopped

did you have a little bum dribble?

I bet you was bricking it mate, i had a similar thing happen to me, only the driver was reversing looking the other way, i was in a company smart car... i bailed out and ran off like a little girl, he noticed me removing myself from the car and stopped. he gave me a fiver not to grass him up to the gaffer, haha, YES, i took it as i were en route to subway.
