Closing Ceremony & Olympic Inspiration

Its been amazing, probably the best olympics i have ever seen in my life and i am gutted i never got tickets to see it as i live 20mins away from the stadium.

i should have tried harder to get tickets years ago but diddnt as i thought it would be a fail of massive order but the moment the opening ceremony kicked in, I knew this was going to be something spectacular.

What a cracking 2 weeks it has been and again, gutted i did not get any tickets.

I bet theres 1000'3 that feel like that.

I liked the united britian it has created during the 2 weeks. 3rd in medals table. If we showed the same spirit in everyday life could easily get the uk back on track.

Gutten its over:( I've watched nothing but the games for the past 2 weeks.

Does anyone know if BBC will have the same coverage for the Rio games?

I doubt it. They pushed these games as they were ours, and Rio has a time difference meaning stuff would be on late into the night over here.

That said though, I would expect them to still show an awful lot.

Those 24 HD channels aren't 'that' much extra work for them though surely as it's all footage produced by the IOC anyway they're just commentating over it. Not like it's the BBC shooting all the sports.

Probably won't be the same amount of coverage on the normal channels and stuff but don't see why the action can't be shown.

Cheers for that. Glad they're showing it all live online too, i ended up having to use the tv and multiple monitors/browser tabs to keep up this past fortnight.

I hope they're streaming ends up as good as BBC's as it was faultless.

I know what you mean, I bought an HD TV card so I could watch it in HD (good thing I did).

Let's hope so, going to be a long wait but we have got Sochi in a couple of years and I really enjoy the Winter games too.

BBC1 and 2 were broadcasting from 2am to 6pm every day for the Beijing games and Rio is in a closer time zone, so I don't think that will be a problem. They also had 6 channels available via red button.

I would say it's almost certain that BBC will be showing non-stop coverage again, it's just a question of whether we'll have all the extra channels too.

Anyone else thinking the games at 'Rio' and so on will not have the same feeling after this one, no matter how good they are.

I've always enjoyed the Olympics as far back as I can remember, but being the 'home' games really did add that extra special occasion.

It was bloomin fantastic.

Missing it already :( :(

Nah they will never be as good, I guess it's just that home feeling. Its been british through and through...

I'm actually going to miss not being able to watch it or even talk about it with people

Funny thing is i cant really remember anything of interest at the Euros, its been totally overshadowed by this.
What happened in the Euro's?:D

Are you lookingf orward to the new football season? It feels liek a after thought to me now :(

Also, dont forget, tech changes and in 4 years time, possibly even Freeview can broadcast the whole lot for free, live
