Hi

Just want to know what are some good cloud storage services I can use to store photos online and to browse directly from my phone. I want a way of replacing the photo stream service on my fathers phone.

He has 4G basically everywhere he stays and so I would just like a system that can replace the Apple Photostream and provide a simple interface for him to use. I need at least 10-20gb to store his photos. I have 2 3tb hdds that I use to back them up as well but I also need an online version so he can view pictures and videos.

I was going to use Loom but that was taken over by Dropbox, and dropbox prices are too high. I have thought about Google Drive & WD's storage systems?

Anyways could you guys help and offer some alternative solutions?

Hmm using Google drive isn't ideal because really I'm looking for an app that won't use up my physical space, just as Loom intended too.. but obviously Dropbox saw the potential of Loom and took it away :(

Is there any other app that can do this? Something pretty identical to Loom , in which I would be able to directly replace Apples photo stream?
 
dont know if this helps you, but if you are an Amazon prime user then you now have UNLIMITED photo storage on amazon cloud. i just installed it on my pc, phone and ipads. they can now all auto upload to the cloud and the storage of photos is free as i am a prime user. videos and other files do however take storage space, but as i have 10gb available then i am not too worried. uploads are quick and the app on ipad is easy and clean to view.
 
I'm currently paying about £2/month for 100GB on Onedrive. Transfer speed isn't as fast as Google or dropbox but otherwise I'm pleased with it.

How much space does Onedrive come with by default and what are the main differences between its main competitor, google drive?

If I use one drive to view photos will the app automatically remove the "space" of the photos after I close the app? Google drive saves the photos so I can always view them but this is not to my liking - I'm only looking to replace the photostream of the iPad/iPhone?
 
Tried the Amazon Cloud Drive out - is it me, or is the software really simple/limited?
Was hoping it was going to be good, as I would have signed up for a Prime account to get the free unlimited photo storage.

Have ended up going for the Amazon S3 storage. It's quite complicated to setup initially. Using GoodSync to sync 200GB odd of photos/videos on there. Appears to be a relatively cheap way of doing it though. You only pay for what you use. You can also archive data on to their Glacier storage, which is even cheaper (but take a few hours if you want your data back).

I do like it except I wanted it to replace my Photostream meaning I want to view the photos, and then once I close the app that Google drive doesn't save the photos. This way I can view my pictures and then It won't take up any space on my device - so none of the photos are saved to my phone permanently - just temporarily.

Everytime I look at a photo on my Drive it takes up 2.5mb, or more, and it all adds up. Right now theres 200mb in photos saved. This is what I didn't want.

Does that help clarify things?
 
I have 30Gb for Free with my OneDrive and I use the Android App and ISO App to access things on the go, I rarely use my USB sticks anymore for work purposes.

And you can edit you documents online if the machine your using doesn't have Microsoft Office
 
What about Flickr? That gives you 1TB of storage for free, I quite like the app for it and you can turn off a lot of the sharing etc so the pics aren't public
