C'mon England!

National pride is wonderful, cheap polyester flags hanging off everything is vulgar, it may be normal in America, maybe even France - but the British are a little more reserved.

Well we may look like we've gone a bit over-board but I work in a multi-cultural office so we had to compete with all these....

Pfft I have to work the final and lucky I am off for the 3 group games, its crap working shifts when football is on.
I'm working during every group stage match, although should be able to get home in time for the last one.
And if we're second in the group, I'll miss that game too :(

poor beggers underneath it who paid to see the game:p

I always think that when I see big flags in stadiums, surely the people underneath it must not be very happy. :p Unless of course the seats under it are empty.

Haha, that's classic. I suppose if you did win it you'd stay at home and shun the street parties, yes? Getting to the Semi's would be a damn good result for your team.
Street parties? Not where I live.

Getting to the Semi's would not be a 'damn good result'. Winning would be.

And that, kids, is jingoism. Which is why a lot of football fans outside England find you arrogant buffoons.

if england get to the final.. am sure there will be a big shindig somewhere in london..

ill have a blast down.. only a 5hour drive.. am sure i can get a few folk to join me...

after all.. it would be the world cup final.

i reckon we will win it.. and we will just be like "oh, marvellous"

and thats it.

no naked women like brazil.. no 24hr street bonanza...

just a cup of tea and a quick catch of the news before we go to bed, to go to work

Getting the Semi's would definitely be a damn good result. Same as Tim Henman getting to the Semi's of Wimbledon is still a damn good result.

We are not the greatest at every sport in the world, let's face facts.

In football we rank, what, 10th or so? So for the 10th best team in the world to reach the semi final of the biggest competition in the world would be exceeding their expected achievments, would it not?
