CNC, perspex case design.....

Cool, well what I'll do if they don't email you back. Is send the plans and see how much they cost. If it's sensible I can get the lan li tray and photograph and measure what you need.
 
It looks amazing, but I can't believe how bloody big it is!
Would it not have been better (in terms of size) to put the slot loading opticals at the bottom, raise the height a little and cut the length down a little so the top right of the front rad and right of top rad are near each other?
 
Its going to be an expensive case !

We used to do lots of Perspex or clear acrylic machining (perspex is ici's trade name for acrylic) but there doesn't seem to be the call now.

I'd be interested in the price your quoted, I know if I quoted it you'd need to sit down.
 
It'll definitely be expensive. If I were you I'd be calling up my long-lost-friends to see if anybody works in a machine shop and is willing to do a side job in exchange for a few pints.

I've got a guy who works for pizzas, materials and all. :D

Edit, you should also be aware that laser cutting would be the way to go on a lot of these parts. Anything that involves cutting through holes is more easily, quickly, and cheaply done on the laser.

It'll just be what I'm running at the moment. Which is nothing special.

e6300, 7900gto, 2gig ram. I want to get a decent case with the ultra quite water cooling full 800rpm noctua goodness, an ultra quite psu although I'm not sure what wattage I would need and all the hdd's enclosed hence the 5.25" bays.. Then I can think about upgrading the rest. I certainly want to go i7 and probably sli although ati are better prices..

Which design do you like better, AcidHell, yesterday's or today's?
 
Todays, with the same size honeycomb effect..
if the front panel is finished, could you pull it of and save it in it's own file. that way i can start emailing some companys and see what they say. have to talk to my dad as well. He's a part time supply teacher, so maybe he has a cnc machine in one of the schools.
 
I don't quite get what you mean about the same size honeycomb. In both designs the hexagons are the same size; inscribed in a 20 mm circle. The difference is the orientation and the treatment of the boundaries between the fans. The rectangles in the first go stuck out too much for my tastes.
 
Man that's awesome, I wish I could use cad properly. I've tried so many times on so many programs and just found it to complicated..
Put some effort in to learning sketchup, you can go really far with it. I work in a CAD office, and I try to do as much 3D modeling in sketchup as I possibly can.

It's far far better than it gets credit for. Some people see it or refer to it as a kind of 'toy' that people just mess about with. While I do and can use other CAD packages, sketchup is by far the nicest to work with. I've also started using it with fryrender too and the results are pretty good.
