Coca Cola : "Be less white"

My wife was part of a teaching course recently and had to answer some questions about diversity etc. When she revealed she had no BAME friends in her social circle it was looked down on and it was suggested she might want to reach out and make some.

I can't believe your wife just can't make the effort to find some token black friends. How else will she virtue signal?

The article in the OP literally states they are facing mounting backlash about this, it's a myth that people don't speak out against this sort of stuff.
I quoted someone who said people had signed off on this. It's clear some thought that this was okay. And yes there are many who don't speak up against this, I've seen it in the workplace.

Lol, how exactly does that go... do they expect her to stop someone in the street and say "hey, you're Black/Asian/Miscellaneous... will you be my friend?"

Their/coca's tv adverts, could also be defined by that catchphrase (thought the thread was about that),
I can't believe the ethnic communities don't see them as sychophantic/overtly-woke, meanwhile the white audience looks on, amused that this healthy product is being targetted to an ethnic audience;
maybe the adds are just imported per se from the American market; other tv advertisers, worryimgly, show the same trait. eg tescos.

The main issue I see is that this CRT stuff is essentially an American response to the slavery trade there and the resulting oppression of black Americans.

The problem is we've imported the theory but replaced "black" with BAME(basically anyone not white). In America other ethnicities like Asian, Hispanic, etc don't benefit from the affirmative action. So now rather than supporting black people the main goal appears to be to demonize white people and demand reverse discrimination against them.

Weirdly this sort of equity over equality agenda seems to be something that's primarily implemented by white men at the top level of organisations because they think it makes them look virtuous/noble. It doesn't. It just makes them look like self serving hipocritical wa@#ers

Have you only just noticed this antagonistic little troll? All they seem to do is take the contrarian position to whatever subject is at hand in the hope to rile people up.
I just wanted to thank you for your wokeness by not assuming my gender

Racism is something truly worth fighting but not with another form of racism. Things like this really miss the mark for me because they get people talking about it for all the wrong reasons.

If you want people to be less arrogant then address that don't tell them to be less like a stereotype of their race. Bonkers

Racism has just been flipped on its head for whatever reason (division?), organisations like the Color Blind Society and rights activists like Martin Luther King fought for people to be judged by the "content of their character" and not the colour of their skin, the modern left are absolutely OBSESSED with doing exactly the opposite, sorting everyone into different groups based on race and ethnicity, treating people differently because of it and driving a wedge between them.

All of the talk by the left about championing minorities but they refuse to recognise the smallest minority, the individual. Not all black people need state aid and not all white people are privileged, treating black people like they all need help is demeaning if you ask me.

It's depressing to see the level of misrepresentation taking place in the media. we see the same thing with gender. If you look at the stats you are a similar divide in favour of female students. Yet the rhetoric in the media all pretends it's males who have 'privilege' when the reality is that female students are performing better in exams and are more likely to go into further education.

A generation of young white men is going to be lost to this agenda having been continually told that being white and male is a toxic combination!

yep, its insane.
Some people are claiming to be anti racist and yet all they can see is the colour of someone's skin - they couldn't miss the point more if they tried.

Just imagine if it was "be less black". Wouldn't the fallout be fun?

Your basically saying that there is nothing wrong in telling people to be less white. It’s disgusting and grotesque, yet we stupidly put up with it.
I mean personaly the story made me laugh but lets remember all the times 'white people' have gone on about minorities not integrating more and gone on about 'black culture' being prone to violence and crime and muslims being prone to terrorism. Im assuming that that is basicaly the same as telling them to be less '(insert culture/race)'

I mean it sort of sounds the same to me.

Haha that hasnt aged well.

Im going out on a limb here but wasnt he talking about how black people are seen? So he was saying dont judge black people on the colour of their skin but by the content of their character?

A day when black people wont be looked on as black people but just people. You also have to remember WTF was going on in America at the time. I mean **** it was not good for a lot of people to be black in those times.

I can only applaud you for some first-rate mental gymnastics.

How do you conclude that calling for "integration" is actually a form of racism - but presumably only when that phrase is used by white people?

That calling for "integration" is a coded message for "let's eradicate black culture".

I take my hat off to you :p
