So, whilst not the most manly of dog names, does anyone here have a Cockapoo/Cockerpoo ?

They seem to tick every box we want from a dog, and we have found a few breeders that we have had decent length conversations and visits to, but just wondering if anyone here has one, and could recommend a breeder?

They do look nice.

I have issues with people crossbreeding dogs, giving them a stupid hybrid name, and charging the earth for them though. They used to just be called crossbreeds or mongrels in the past I'm sure, and used to be free to good homes or sold for a nominal amount.

I put 'cockerpoo' into Google's image search and not a single picture of male genitalia came up. Result! Safesearch was off, too.

might be a bit far for you but the nice has one about 6-8months old now a great dog, can find out the details of the breader if you like.

My parents have one... Pa calls it a "crockofshit" if he's naughty ;) but he is lovely. Super lovely. He could be really well trained but folks are happy with him at the standard he is (all the usual). Doesn't malt, does need brushing daily though else his fur gets into nasty knots due to not shedding! He's fast as, stupidly loveable, a bit daft, playful, soft as pie with kids and very loving.

He unfortunately was mistreated at a kennels so he's a nervous dog with guys until he's grown used to them. Does not respond well to telling off.. possibly because of above but just very nervous.

He's not my cuppa tea as I like a bigger dog which is more dog dog like, he's a bit of a wet rag soppy thing! but he came out with me for a 3mile beach run and was fine!

Parents went to many breeders and ended up with one in Wales :) I'd say perfect family dog, not hard to train but is affectionate and needs company the majority of the time :)

I see a lot of this out there, and managed to get abuse for it pretty much anywhere i ask questions.

We have good reason for wanting this crossbreed, and we don't have a huge problem with paying the extra over other breeds to secure these qualities.

I think its quite hilarious people get so angry about this, but the same people usually don't have a problem with picking any old dog and that being ok. We aren't in that situation so don't have that luxury. Trust me, if we were, we would !

I'm not having a go at you for wanting one, just don't like the way breeders take advantage of people by charging over the odds for what is essentially a crossbreed. Capitalism I guess.

Cross-breeding however is a damn sight better than the inbreeding people demand for their "pure bloods"

I fell short of posting this thinking I'd open a can of worms...

I agree. It is scary to see what some breeders do (Breed mother with son, etc etc) to keep the breed 'pure' and get the right 'lines and looks'.

I'll take an expensive cross breed over that any day of the week.

Yeah my sister has 2 of the little fellas :-)

They are lovely dogs who get on well with young'ish kids (My 5 & 10 year old nephews)

Iv got one. Hes a lovely dog, likes to play, smart, good with kids, good with my other dog (a Greyhound) loves to play, dosent shed hair much if at all though he needs a haircut every 4-5 weeks, loves to play. only problem i have with him is that he will forget all about me and my family and will run off to play with any dog he sees, humans he sees, intresting sticks he sees. he would probally go homw with them if given half the chance.

The girlfriend is after one of these when we finally get a place... got to admit they're not the most manly of breeds but generally (from the ones I've seen) appear to be lovely dogs.
