Im doing normal first for the full effect and story without the frustration, do veteran after

I think thats what im going to do. Although it never turned up :(

Well I've played the game for a good few hours. Visually it's stunning and shows off the 360's power - especially with the special effects. Gameplay is very good, but attempting the game in hardened mode had me only lasting uptil the second map before the 'anger' set in :p

Currently going through the game in normal mode, then vet later when I'm a lot more calmer. One frustrating thing about the game is that when you're crouching, I tend to get 'stuck' on bits of debris which makes the viewpoint judder horribly resulting in a nice easy kill for the enemy.

Having played for awhile now straight in at Veteran I'm finding it easier than COD2 as I'm onto mission 5 now and back on COD2 I remember spending all night just to complete one mission. It is still a hard slog and some sections have seen me die many times over. I'm finding the friendly AI seem to help you out a lot more in COD3. One other point is the sound is amazing in 5.1, had the floor shaking earlier with all the explosions going off, dont suppose the neighbours are going to be very happy! :D

Yep, I'm on 2.1 and the sound is incredible. You can hear the bullets zinging all over the place and it feels really good. The guns feel different to me though, it's like they've added more recoil? Because I find myself emptying a lot of of bullets into the enemy and they still end up firing back at me unless I do a headshot.

My gripe with it is that it isnt proper widescreen! Pretty shoddy from them really, ive got stuck on some teammates and had a few appear from no where.

It does sound fantastic on surround sound, and ive just got the logitech 5450, but whoa, its like being in the middle of a battle :p

FINALLY - made it past that stupid hill rush

That was a real pain for me as well, after my comment earlier that I thought Veteran was easier I am now on mission 5 - Falaise Road and I have been stuck for over an hour trying to do one section!

Some rather frustrating areas in this game so far. The squad 'AI' is a joke if you ask me and I have some real issues with this game.

Getting stuck on debris/dust/fresh air/squad mates

You're in cover and a squad mate trundles over and just seems to push you out of the way, usually into an oncoming bullet.

You're lining up a shot and a bunch of squad mates amble around in front of you so you can't take your shot, you then get killed by the nazi you were lined up on.

You should be able to pistol whip stupid squad members.

Apart from that it's OK but I don't think it offers much more over CoD2 really apart from the ability to increase my blood pressue to all time highs.

Oh and it seems I'm having to win the war single handedly as the marksmanship demonstrated by my idiotic squad members is laughable.

Hehe sounds like my experiences with GRAW at the moment, god damn those team mates of mine are stupid, i tell them to go sit in a corner and wait for my command...hoping that they would just sit there and wait for my signal...but noooo at least one of them comes to me while im crouching and decides to take out the enemy while im trying my best to take them out one by one...invariably he always gets shot and falls down causing me to come out and try and heal him and therefore me getting shot at and losing some health.... Plus my squad members dont seem to know how to shoot at the enemy....they like shooting into thin air...bloody morons the lot of them...last night i just left them for dead as i get much farther without having to babysit them:p.

Hmmmm still havent opened my copy of COD3, i might not by the looks of it....might send it back as i just got NFS Carbon limited edition this morning...too many games to get through and i dont have enough time to play them all. Still have to finish off GRAW, then Madden07, then i have Splinter Cell and now i have COD3 and NFS Carbon....:p

Don't get me wrong, it's a good game :p

I'd just spent all morning basically screaming at my screen, it can be very frustrating on Veteran difficulty in places.

Same thing i say about GRAW as well, really enjoying it at the mo although it sends my blood pressure through the roof...dont think ive ever sworn or cursed a game so much in my entire life. Just one of those games that need massive amounts of patience which i havent got lol:p.

God knows who im going to cope with splinter cell and rainbow 6 vegas as they seem to be pretty similar to GRAW:p.

In world war two, at this time, many of the recruits were raw and almost completely untrained. Their actions indeed whilst annoying are in fact probably accurately representative of the real scenario.

Hell someones gotta defend the devs :D

I do echo some of your cons there. I haven't eased into this game like I did CoD2 because of quite a few niggles - which WILL make vet mode a LOT more tedious  <- my second ever rolleyes!

1. Getting stuck on debris/team mates - made me totally lose it on the frenchy missions.

2. Squaddies running into my line of fire, causing mission failure. Cheers chaps.

3. The enemy soldiers seem to be wearing bulletproof vests...

4. You don't get to identify with key characters like that ginga chap in Cod2 for example. Why? Because the campaigns seem to change on the fly from american to french without any intermission. It feels like a continous train ride you can't get off.

Don't get me wrong, the game is superb - but upon playing CoD3 it does feel like it was made by a different software house.
