CoD 4 graphics...

That's exactly where I was on CoD3 when it first came out - and I haven't returned to that game since then. It's some of the most pathetic level design ever. I'm buggered if I'm going to spend 20mins fighting through a ton of enemies and then man a mortar I've hardly any experience on.

That's one of the only parts of a game that has left me totally stumped and beaten. I would get close to blowing up the bridge and get rished by the enemy. So, i duck behind the fence thing for a second and pop up every so often to shoot, however i always ended up killing me team mate ffs! I found veteran up to that point fairly ok.

I know for a fact i'll finish it at some point, but im going through the motions of loosing my cod 3 progress :(

Graphics are amazing when you don't have to pay £3000 just to play a £30 game...

Best game i've got at the moment. Online is superb. Infact i haven't played any other games for nearly 3 weeks since completing Assassins Creed.

Running it on PS3.

Amen!

He's on about PC gaming i think - aka A LOT more expensive for a very similar experience.

well not really tbh

basic good pc is around 500-600 with a 8800 gt or gts and 22"lcd which would play games at a faster fps and higher rez and would look better than a ps3 or 360 so i dunno how that is more money!!!

and come on its a bit silly someone being a member of a pc hardware shops forum and thinks it takes 3k to build a pc that will play cod 4 at 60fps!!! i mean i expect it from ign forums etc but not from a pc site

It looks splendid on a CRT aswell, although i think you at a disadvantage on MP due to the lack of clarity on distance objects.

Not with a 42" plasma and me sitting 5ft away from it :D

The clarity on distance objects is actually pretty good, I can see movement and people far enough away that I can't shoot them.... :p

Dont start a pc versus console debate from this! I refuse to let you!

As for Cod4, it is the best online game at the moment, it dragged me away from halo 3 and I thought I be playing that forever.
I also think it looks great personally, a step above any of the other Cod games.

...........and then another £100 odd for the next GFX card to play the latest and greatest game. meh, back on topic now....

well its the only game series that makes me play online on a fps game all the time, Easily beats Halo3 thats for sure.

Exactly what halo 3 did for me. I played it for a decent amount of time online. Think it would have to be pretty special to beat Halo 3 imo. I'll reserve judgment until i'ce played cod4.

I found it lacked the extra graphical sharpness on the 360 beta not sure if that was tightened up for final release? On PC it looks lovely but the shine wears off after a while and you notice some ugly bits here and there. Single player is fine for a quick weekend blast imo.

Also need some new maps fast to keep MP fresh, with better spawn points as well.

Kainz has been whittling in our IRC channel about CoD4 since before it came out about how he hated it, when I got it he hated it, when he got it he hated it!

Considering the atrocious texture lag and frame rate drag Mass Effect suffers CoD4 looks great.

The single player game of Call of Duty 4 was short but sweet, there was little repetition you were always somewhere new and the game play was always frantic, the TV Studio and Pripyat are my favourite. The multiplayer is also great fun however I prefer CoD4 on the PC rather than the 360 (mouse and keyboard and all that!). The production and polish on the game is also very good.

Anyway, would you trust the opinion of someone who sleeps in this ?! :D

Shup PR! I've hated many games when I got them and yet I handled them fine!

It's funny how you wined about Mass Effect for it's weapon switching, yet fell silent when you played and LOVED it! You've now got CoD4 on the PC via steaming pos so you're one to talk!

Edit: and sordoff to yer neowin forums! :D

Off topic but all the Mass Effect videos I saw of combat showed the reticule menu flying up every 5 seconds, that kind of combat I personally hate. Fortunately I saw some more and read a few reviews which indicated that it was pretty much optional if you wanted to use it. I did like Mass Effect although the texture popping was really irritating.

P.S. I don't post on Neowin, never have too big a forum!

CoD 5 should be set in London. We need missions where we can visit places like Ken Livingstone's house.
